I hate my Peds office!!! If your Ped has the Swine Flu Vaccine, what is the name and where are they located?
I know that some people want it, and some do not. But I absolutely do and cannot get it.
All of the Moms that I spoke to yesterday at Ava's soccer game, already had their kids vaccinated. We all live in the same town. Why do their Peds have it and mine does not?? They are literally all on the same road, doors away from each other.
I called our Doctor's office today and was told "We don't think we will be getting any, and even if we did, we have no idea when, call the county and see where you can bring your kids." That's very nice.....I have already brought Brody to the county when they wouldn't give him the flu shot , because they "Only had a certain amount and they were for their uninsured patients" 
The county couldn't give him the Swine Flu Vaccine because they only have the nasal spray and he is under two... This is a load of BS..... First the media scare you to death, and then you can't get the vaccine because you have insurance or they aren't getting it in.
I am usually not a complainer, but are babies under 2 not considered high risk??? I am just soo upset, because DH's perfectly healthy baby brother died of flu complications and 21 months and my perfectly healthy nephew went into respiratory distress from the flu.
Vent over.....
Does your Ped have it?????
ETA... We go to Woletsky, Zanolin and Lambert in West Islip

As of last Tuesday when I was there for my daughter's flu shot my ped. had both the seasonal shot and the H1N1. We go to Mid-Suffolk Pediatrics in Happauge. Their phone number is: (631) 434-1770. You can call and ask them if they still have it available.

Same problem here.....you dont go to Mid Suffolk by any chance do you?
I was also told the doses they had in were for uninsured/medicaid patients. To try back in Dec!!!!

Same here I go to mid suffolk. Ds got his seasonal in September and his H1N1 a week and a half ago. They were doing high risk patients first and then opening it to everyone else. DS lives in the house with a newborn so he is considered high risk. They were not sure if they would have enough for the second dose since they are trying to get as many kids as possible the first dose. They get at least 85% protection from the first dose. I was told to call back a month after his shot to see if they had the second one available.

DS is 26 months....they dont consider that baby right?

I just called too because I got nervous since my sisters kids didn't get it yet. I was told the same, that they got a shipment in today and I asked about the medicaid thing. You don't have to be medicaid to get it.

Just to give you all a heads up. . . . DS was supposed to get the H1N1 vaccine last week (my ped had it all ready for him), but it had not been 4 weeks since he had gotten the regular flu shot, so they would not give it to him. Very frustrating!

We use mid-suffolk pediatrics in Mount Sinia and DS just got the 1st round of the mist on Friday. He has to go back (and DD has to go for her 1st) in about a month and they told us to call to make sure they have it in that they are expecting to run out again.

We also go to Mid-Suffolk in Hauppauge but they would not vaccinate DS.
The resaon? He had the seasonal flu shot two weeks prior and their policy is to spread vaccinations 4 weeks apart.
Did anyone else encounter this with them? I was very upset as the CDC and Dept. of Health state it is fine to give, but our Dr. did not agree.

DS is 2 1/2 and we made his appt for it about 5 weeks ago, when he got his regular flu shot. DH took DS, and he said that he heard them telling people on the phone they were out. Not sure if it had to do with the timing of when we made his appointment or the fact that it was a mis (and maybe the people on the phone were asking for the shot).
We also go to the Mount Sinai office and they did make it clear they were expecting to run out, and might not have it when we go for the 2nd part in a month.

I had the same issue when calling for my DD. They did have it but were only giving it to chronic kids. DD had it on October 23rd in Hauppauge and they expected to run out that day. I think they are trying to control hysteria and panic. It is making me nuts!

Thanks for posting this, I had to cancel DS's appt for tomorrow because he just got the 2nd reg flu shot 2 weeks ago. I would have been SO  if I left work early to go there only for them to turn me away....
SO now I have to call back in 1.5 weeks to see if they still have some available.....

from what i understand they are on their 3rd shipment. So it depends on when you call. First they only had the swine mist. Then they got the shots but ran out and they just got another shipment of the shots today.
My ds is only 22 months so he gets the shots.

Unfortunately peds. are NOT able to order the swine flu vaccine the way they can other vaccines. It is not your peds. fault. They are being sent the vaccines. My ped. did not have the vaccine last time I was either and said he was told he wouldnt be getting his batch until the end of November.

My 9 month old got both the seasonal and swine at the same time last week and my 3 1/2 yr old is getting both tomorrow. Not sure why they say it has to be spread out but I know the 2nd round of the shot has to be 4 weeks apart though.
