It's horrible that she is going through this, but the principal can't really threaten the girls in the class. I'd have some of the teachers on here help you draft a memo of requests for the phone conversation, and then stick to your main points (hall time, special lock, etc). Asking for things they cannot legally do (threaten the students that they will suffer if the pocketbook is not returned) kind of weakens your argument.
Are you sure that she wouldn't lose the key if she had a lock with a key during gym class with nothing to carry it?
the prinicpal is calling all the girls down and will tell them if they know something they better say something or the whole glass will suffer the same disaplian(sp) as if they all did it. i found out the girl who took it was smart enough this time to take the sim card out so i can not even call the phone. the last time the phone was taken this year i was able to call it and i called enough that the phone showed up in the nurses office along with everything else. i have a strong felling it is the same girl

its a total PITA but you've got to be a squeeky wheel when it comes to adding modifications to her IEP.
Do you belong to SEPTA? Do you know who the advocate is? You've got to get together with other parents of Special Ed kids & talk to them about how they got results or who they dealt with in the school.
When my DS was that age I was so in their faces, the teachers knew it was easier to do what I said than deal with me flipping. There are state advocates in Albany, the board of education/special ed.
Start searching online for phone numbers, call Albany & tell them what nonsense you are going through.
Everything contact you have with the school has to be written, sent certified & CC'd to the superintendent & NYS board of education.
I know it takes a ton of time & effort but doing things this way lets the district know you'll blow whistles.
I've heard of rare occaisionswhen special ed kids can be enrolled in a different district for better services, have you looked into this with Longwood?
i have beem the only one who has delt with this. as for longwood she went there before i moved and i am SOOOOOOOO kick my self in the butt from taking her from that school. they are so good with their kids and they care about their kids. not like when keith past away a teacher put krys in the hall way to cry because she had to finish the last five min. class before she could deal with her oh that cause me to go up there and raise he II

My DD has many issues from time to time. I have made good friends with the school social worker, school psychologist, and her guidence couselor. All have helped her with her locker and have handled any issues that she has had...As a Special Education Student they recognize that she needs help in some areas. Ive been fortunate that she has befriended a couple of students that are nice to her and help her from time to time...
I lawyered up when we first moved to this district and my DH is a special ed teacher in a middle school so I know what they can do for her...
I would have something added to her IEP and I would seek out an allie within the school..such as the school social worker.
done all of that and still nothing.. they help her for about 5 days and oh ok next student

ok i just got home... lastchance said it was a boy... it was a girl. by the time i left work and got to the school i had calmed down but with all intention of still calling the cops. when i finally talked with the pricipals(2 of them where there) i asked what was the girls story well here it is
" well i went in the gym and there where a few girls going through her pocket book but got scared by her walking in so she picked up the pocket book and had all the intention of returning" yeah ok then why did she not go to the teacher or the office. all of her stuff was in the pocket book and they did give me her name so i can take the famoly to court to get back the 100 dollars that i had to shell out to report her phone stollen and get her a new on. i really could go back to wrok but i am shot so ihave the time to use so i am home. thanks for all your support it means the world to me

I agree. I know it's a hassle but maybe it will put a stop to it.
WITH OUT A DOUBT!! next tues. i am off and i am going to go to civiil court and file a complaint(sp) att did very quickly replace her phone so at least now she has her new phone. it was here when i got home. i do have the childs name and when i find out all her info i am going to go through with it. the school did let her know i was going to press charges right then and there but because this was a first offence for her(that they know of) i will do it the cival way

I wonder if this is the same girl that stole from my neice's gym locker last year.
Her cell phone and ipod were taken.
Not that it is right - but she should have never had either of these in school, but that is another story.

i am SO sorry this has happened and has been happening.
while i agree that the girl(s) should not be allowed to walk away with just a verbal "scolding" i worry that if you do press charges the bullying might increase. you are in a tough situation and of course you ONLY want the best for your daughter but teenagers can be very cruel and vindictive and i don't want to see kryssy have to endure anymore torture.
i know you are beyond livid now but it is definitely something to think about.

Oh I completely understand about the phone - but my neice didn't need to have it in school and her Ipod didn't need to be there - she had only gotten it a couple of days before.
And yes - I do believe the knew who it was
