I have a hospital ? for you mommies
So how does this really work with "taking" things. Are we supposed to be hush hush about it? Arent the nurses going to notice that there were 10 bottles of formula, diapers, etc and then all of a sudden they are gone. Do they tell you take them daily. I just feel so funny about this, like I will be stealing.

Re: I have a hospital ? for you mommies
When I had my children they were in the room with you all day and a lot of family or friends would come to visit so my sister was always good for it, she would go to the nursery everytime and just ask for formula. The nurses never asked for who they just gave it to her. By the time I came hoem I think I had 30 bottles plus on the last day they give you formula and all the diapers in the cart.

Us too! I loved having all of those recieving blankets. And the best thing I took were chuck pads. They're perfect to put on the changing table in case of any leaks. That way you can just pick it up and throw it out instead of having to wash the cover.

They told us to empty the cart. Remember you (your insurance!) is paying for it anyway

we took a boat load of those chuck pads as well-they were great for the changing table-we just ran out a few days ago I was bummed! I can thank my DH for that one-he thought of it!

Re: I have a hospital ? for you mommies
They did not leave that much everyday for us. But we took a little bit everyday.
On the last day, one nurse told us to take everything. It was not much but we had supplies for about 1 week.
That's better than nothing.

Actually, I think that the hospital probably gets them from the manufacturers - free advertising for them! Plus once you start your baby on a formula, most people don't change unless there is a problem...
We took everything, including the 2 digital thermometers that were in her cart. I use the gauze that we have left over to take off nail polish now!
Also, after we packed up the whole car, we had to watch the video on shaken baby. By the end of it, DD had a dirty diaper so I asked for a diaper to change her. They had to open a new package and gave us the whole package to take home!

I think the only manufacturers are the diapers and the formula. So, the rest (gauze, a&d, blankets, all of the stuff for mommy) is definately paid for by your insurance.
Also, take everything they give YOU. Tucks pads, gauze undies, pads, etc, etc.

Re: I have a hospital ? for you mommies
The nurses brought bags and bags f diapers to take with us. We were set on newborn diapers. Thats the one thing I'll miss about delivering in a hospital, free diapers!

Re: I have a hospital ? for you mommies
I didn't take anything until the last day and by that point there wasn't much left. She told me to take everything that was disposable and the bottles and nipples because they throw it away. Now I wish I had taken a receiving blanket as a momento. Of course had I have taken everything, I would probably have been charged a ton more on her bill.

Re: I have a hospital ? for you mommies
I felt I had to be hush hush about it, as the nurses never told me to take anything. I waited until the shift changes so that way the new shift didn't know how much was stocked in there. I also took a receiving blanket every day. I didn't take any formula though since DD was EBF.
