I have a meeting in Tarrytown and have to stay overnight when I will be 38 weeks - should I go?

When I asked my boss if I had to go her response was - "of course you should go, its just Tarrytown"

I kind of agree - but I will be around 2 hours away from home. DH is nervous about me going.

Would you go?

I guess it depends where you are delivering but I would be inclined not to go and I would bet that if you need a medical note your doctor would support you.

Personally, I would not be 2 hours away from the hospital on an overnight trip 2 weeks away from my due date. Heck I don't think I would do it 4 weeks away from my due date.

I agree. Your boss should understand. Worse comes to worse, tell your boss that your dr. thinks its unadvisable.

ITA. I also agree with ssdbk (Ms. Kerie) and would get a note from the doctor. I can't believe your boss said of course you should go. You need to do what is right for you and your baby. I am sure your doctor will support you and give you a note.

Honestly, if you're feeling up to it, I don't see why not. If you feel in any way uncomfortable with it, then obviously don't go.

I wouldn't. 38 weeks is very close. I voted your boss is a ****** BTW. She shouldn't expect you to go.

I don't think your doctor will say ok. I wanted to go to Easter at my parents in Montauk (I was living on Staten Island at the time-so it took 2.5 hours to get there) when I was 36 weeks and my doctor said no way. She said you shouldn't be more than 1 hour from your hospital from 36 weeks on.

The funny thing is that my boss is a mom - she has a 2 year old. How fast they forget.....

I had my baby at 38 weeks, so I personally wouldnt want to be on an overnight that far along in your pregnancy. 37 weeks is full term, so you really could go into labor any day.

I wouldnt. I would be way too worried about being 2 hrs. away. Your boss, being a female and a mom should 100% understand this.

I wouldn't. 2 hours from the hospital and DH at 38 weeks is cutting it close.

I personally would be fine with going, esp if you have your own car there but if you're not, I'm sure your doctor would give you a note or something.

Def ask you Dr. Mine was adamant about me being no more than 1 hour away, but I was high-risk.....

I initially said no way, but it depends where you are delivering. I am delivering in the city, so I probably would go to Tarrytown--it's not so far from my hospital. But if your hospital is 2 hours away, I wouldn't do it.

If you're concerned about your boss, I would look into a doctor's note.

I might consider being 2 hours away if I were still on Long Island, but with the bridge and traffic, etc., I wouldn't want to go.

I also voted that you boss is a B Chat Icon
