I have a question regarding nursery school, pre-k...etc...

My boys turn three in Sept 2009. I don't want to put them into nursery school but would like to put them into Pre-K. I know that they have to be 4 for Pre-K, but someone just told me that I should sign them up in January 2009 for that?

I am confused. Shouldn't I be signing them up in January 2010 for Pre-K since they will not turn 4 until Sept. 2010???

Also, do you really sign these kids up 9 months before they go to school??

And guidance would be appreciated. I just want to make sure I am on top of this.

My boys just turned 3 in August and I signed them up for the 3 year old program nursery school. Next year when they are 4 they will be in pre - k and then the year after that K.

So I think you would want to sign them up for September 2010. Registration for September usually begins in the spring, some even have it earlier so if there is a place that you think is hard to get in, the earlier you sign up the better. I signed my kid's up in the beginning of August and of the 5 places I looked at 1 didn't have spots for them, everyone else did.
