I am so sorry that you are feeling like this!

I can offer you this advice:
Having done much home renovation in the last few years (although without a little one at home to take care of) I completely understand how frustrating it can be. It seems like projects will never get finished. Two years ago my husband and I completely gutted our bathroom and re-did it ourselves with the exception of the plumbing. We had to hire a plumber for a day of work in order to install the tub and connect the piping to the main wasteline in our basement. I think it cost about $700-800. The rest of the cost was just materials because we did the labor on our own. Now, we knew NOTHING about installing a toilet, hanging drywall, tiling a floor and shower, etc. But we researched on the internet and found EVERYTHING we needed to complete the job. Even though your husband says he can't do it himself, he can!! It did take us 3 weekends and most nights after work for 2 weeks, but we saved so much $$$$ by not having to hire someone for over $400 a day. I think we did just as good a job as a contractor.

I can't offer to help you with taking care of your daughter, but I can offer my help if you need advice on how to complete your bathroom project. I know time is so valuable and in the midst of it it seems like it will never get finished, but I promise it is doable. Please FM me if you want to.

I know what it's like to rely on family when times are tough. You've got an incredible network here and in your personal life. I'm sure everything will work out for you.

I think you and your DH need to sit down and evaluate the entire situation.
He will need to step up and help your BIL with the bathroom. You need to call your BIL and explain that you HATE asking him for all of this help but your mother has asked you to move out as soon as possible. You need the bathroom working. Start moving into the house and getting the other rooms ready. Your mother needs to see that you are making an effort to move out the house and into your own.
You might need to ask for help for the next 3 weeks to get thru your musical. HUGS.

While I can't understand your exact situation, I can understand that feeling of overwhelming stress, anxiety, and sadness. I have BTDT more than once. I know you don't know me, but if you need anything, please let me know. I can recc. a sitter if you would like, the girl I use is 25, a grad student, a nursery school teacher, and wonderful. I could even get her to work for nothing, or I would pay her to come out to you. Like I said, I know we have never met, but I can really feel some of your pain. I hope you feel better soon!!

Rachel- you are a strong woman who will get through this time. Honestly, I think you are more upset and overwhelmed dealing with your mom than anything else you mentioned- the rest is just the topping on the cake. I know you are tapped emotionally right now- is there anyone neutral you can talk to? Maybe through your job's EAP?

You need support and you need it now. I am not talking favors- I am talking true professional support. And never be afraid to ask for favors- If you were my friend and feeling this way, you could never ask me too much

aw Rach, I can only imagine how hard all of this is on you right now. I wish I could do something to help, but I only have a week and half to #2 and D is having a hard time with it.

Just try to ignore your mother's comments as best as you can. You will be through this soon enough and not have to live in someone else house again.

Hope you have been able to calm down some and breathe....your mom really needs to be told that it sucks she wants you guys out but your not going anywhere until the bathroom is finished which will take time. She needs to put on her granny panties and deal!

May 17th will be here before you know it....until then hang on and take any help offered to you

Rach, I am free every day but Thursday...I would be MORE than happy to have Ava a couple of days a week, and Cass would LOVE it!! I am TOTALLY serious and you better take me up on it!!!!

As for the house, I agree with what another poster said...get 1 bathroom done, and yours and Ava's BR's liveable, and the rest can happen in it's own time.

I'm sorry about your mom. I'm sure she's stressed out and doesn't mean to upset you.

Sooo...when can I expect Ava?

I also know that D's old preschool teacher lives in the area that you are moving and is INCREDIBLE. She is a doll and I bet you she could do some babysitting. She loves loves loves kids. If you need her number please let me know. I know she just left D's old daycare and is waiting until the new daycare that she will be working at to open in June, so I bet she would be very flexible with times.

Can I help babysitting one weekend? I can even promise you my memorial day! I can't help during the week because I get home from work so late, but please, let me know if I can do anything over the weekend.

Also, maybe this is b!tchy of me, but even though your DH isn't handy yet, maybe he needs to learn Not like I want to cause an argument or anything, but he knew you guys were in for a lot of work, right?

I don;t have much advice except leave dd with dh on the weekend and get over there and do it yourself! I know nothing about plumbing, but tiling and installing other bathroom fixtures is cake! And I would be happy to go over there and help you (I actually enjoy it) so feel free to call on me!
