I just feel so defeated *UPDATE*
We are in contract on a house, appraisal came back $30,000 less than agreed upon purchase price. We ordered a new appraisal from a different bank hoping it would be a little bit closer to purchase price so seller would feel comfortable lowering the price.
The appraisal report was supposed to be ready on Monday. Every day I wake upon with the excitememnt that we can move forward and close the deal and every night I go to sleep so disappointed.
I almost feel like I don't even care anymore, I am so sick of waiting for other people to do their jobs.
We were supposed to be closing this week but Noooooooooo.
I almost feel like a bit of depression.
Anyone else have overwhelming emotions during this process? And if so how did you cope?
******************************** So the appraisal finally came back. It came in 15k LESS than purchase price, which is a lot better than the previous appraisal of 30k less than purchase price.
Dh called the sellers realtor and she said that the family already moved last week to Ohio so the house is now vacant and that she will be speaking to owner on Monday and is prettty sure they will lower the the price to the appraisal price.
So dh and I are pretty excited, looks like we are still getting the house but for 15k less than we thought. Hopefully Monday ot will be official and dh thinks we could be closing within 2 weeks.

Re: I just feel so defeated
hang in there. the waiting game and back and forth BS is never fun. house buying is a VERY stressful and overwhelming process be thankful that you aren't selling and buying at the same time. stay positive and remain patient.
to a speedy closing.

Re: I just feel so defeated
well, we never made it as far you BUT i can tell you it gets pretty discouraging when youl lost one house (short sale after 4 months!!) and than make 6 more offers all for nothing...we've been rejected so many times and lost out on a house we loved.....talk about depressing!!
we are making our 8th offer today, it just so happens that there is a house for sale that is the same exact model of the house we lost a few months ago it went on the market today....its 4 houses away from the one we lost but it's a short sale again....swore we wouldn't do another short sale again! but its worth a shot....at least if our offer is accepted by the seller it will keep me from stalking the mls while we wait on the bank...
ive been angry, frustrated, happy, sad, and all of the emotions have been taking a toll on me as well as my husband....i started eating crappy - i stopped working out - i stopped caring about everything....we are both so blah...
so you aren't alone.....but you guys are really close - so hopefully you get an answer before the week ends and everything works out it could be worse - you could be me!
good luck!!!

Re: I just feel so defeated
I'm sorry..........As stressed as that situation would make me, I would be excited that I could potentially get the house at a lower price......if your having trouble getting it appraised for a certain price, others would as well.....If it helps, I think we all had stress during the buying process, I know I certainly did...Wishing you the best of luck!!!!

Re: I just feel so defeated
Jess, you know that I completely know how you feel. I think you are so effected by it b/c the process for you from the beginning was so smooth and easy. Don't worry about you can't control. Really all that matters is that you get the house, so if you have a few extra days or weeks, so be it.
If it doesn't work out, then it wasn't meant to be. I also completely understand how annoying is to hear that when you are in the middle of the process...but it's the only thing that gets me through. I haven't gotten my hopes up yet b/c anything can happen. We just had our appraisal and now we just wait on the mortgage. Very stressful process. Just be happy that the whole looking part didn't make you . At least part of your process is going smoothly.
I hope everything gets resolved quickly.

WOW, I guess you really do understand how I feel
The word you used "blah" is exactly how I feel. Same thing happened, I have not been to the gym in weeks, tired all the time, even was feeling sick. My dh and I are not fighting but it just seems weird between us like, we are not really "there" for each other, we are kind of just co-existing lately. And to make it worse, our 1 year anniversary is on Saturday and we totally thought we were going be in our new home to celebrate. I don't even have our wedding video to watch like I wanted b/c its packed in a box somewhere already
I hope one day soon we can all come on here with the news that the process is over and we are in our new homes.
Good luck to you on your offer

Re: I just feel so defeated
I didn't handle it well at all!
we had a horrible process and the only thing I can say is, have faith that it will eventually all work out in the end. You will look back on it and it will be only a small time period in the scope of your life. Just try to hang in there and make it through.

Re: I just feel so defeated
It took us forever to get our closing date. We had our accepted offer in APRIL. We are FINALLY going to closing after the sellers dragged their feet for MONTHS. In the end - what's meant to be will be.. thats what kept me from freaking out daily... house dust for you.. and for a speedy closing

Re: I just feel so defeated
yes - its the "blah" feeling of it all
we haven't been fighting or arguing either - but like you said, things just aren't the same - there is no excitement about anything anymore - it's kind of like we are zombies just waiting for something to happen......
i do know that it will be all worth it once we get a place.....i figure if things are this miserable now it will probably feel amazing once we finally get something....so that makes me feel a little better....
dont worry you arent alone! and it will happen, and like someone else said, you may end up getting this house for way less than you thought originally which could be a great thing and i think that outcome would def be worth the wait and stress!

Re: I just feel so defeated *UPDATE*
That's great news! Also, in the meantime, it seems that the interest rates have dropped, so you will save some money there too!
Hope the rest of the process is smooth sailing!
