I just had a wisdom tooth pulled and i have a few questions..
I was not knocked out, just novacaine.
I am slowly feeling pain set in...did you need vicodin or just tylenol?? I really don't want to take the vidodin b/c I have a one year old to watch...
Also..how soon before you ate anything?? It was NOT stitched, i have gauze in there now. I am so nervous to drink or eat :(
Also..how long before you did without the gauze?? I asked the doctor and he said when the bleeding is done. But I am such a baby and terrified to walk around with a hole in my mouth :(
Sorry for all the questions, never had this done before!!

I took two tylenol every 6 hours. I did not take the crazy stuff the dentist prescribed.

Re: I just had a wisdom tooth pulled and i have a few questions..
I took Tylenol (vicodin upsets my stomach). As far as eating or drinking, I waited a few hours. NOTHING THRU A STRAW!!!! Keep checking & replacing the gauze to monitor the bleeding. Once it has stopped you should be fine with soft foods.
Good luck and feel better!

Re: I just had a wisdom tooth pulled and i have a few questions..
I did Advil, at double the dose that it recommends on the bottle (this is what my surgeon said to do).
In terms of eating, I also had it done first thing in the morning, and I probably waited until 3 or 4 to eat noodle soup (lukewarm temp, not too hot)! By then the novocaine had worn off and the bleeding let up.
Don't do anything too active--try to lie down if you can and take it easy. Being active and moving around makes the blood take longer to clot. Also, ice your face 15 mins on/15 off to avoid swelling.
Don't be worried if you still see blood tonight, but it will probably let up a lot.

I was knocked out, and I remember I took Tylenol with codeine. It was many years ago, but I do remember not drinking out of a straw- and that I mostly drank Ensure for a while. Not sure when I started eating/drinking, I think I slept a lot that first day.

I took the pain meds the DR prescribed. I didn't have any pain for the first 36 hours and after there tylenol worked.

Ice, Ice Ice...even when you sleep. It will help with the swelling, bruising and pain. I took tylenol!

I took Tylenol and kept replacing the gauze every few hours. Once I saw the bleeding was less, I drank and ate soft foods.
