If they are still being sold, how are they recalled? I have seen them in BBB. If it is used correctly, then there shouldn't be an issue with it... Make sure it is attached properly and securely... It is the only way if you can't do anything else..
I think the issue is that once a child tries to climb out, they can likely get tangled up in the crib net and strangle themselves. I think the only purpose for those things is for non mobile infants to keep animals out of the crib.

Jenn, I would not put him in a crib with the tent. He reminds me of Tyler - and I know that Tyler would do anything he could to get out of that. I thought to myself - God forbid he does this in the middle of the night and something happens. Just not worth the risk. Some kids do really good with the tents - but I imagine it's the much calmer ones

some kids see a gate, respect it and walk away.
i think if they are able to jump out of a crib, a gate is zero problem for them to get over. I would not invest in one and go through the trouble

if the issue is how to get him to stop climbing out of crib, I don't think there is a solution, I agree with Diana, I think the crib tent would be something he'd try to conquer and might pose to big a risk. Maybe a toddler bed, or a mattress on the floor would work better.
If the issue is getting out of the room, I'd turn the handle on the door around and lock it from the outside, he will get used to it quickly.
