When you decided to start putting it on plates, how did you transition? The suction plates are for the birds, and I am debating about whether or not to just let him dump it on himself a few times.........how did you transition? Did it take a long time?
Today I gave him a fork and now he has no interest in eating what is on his tray, just playing with the fork.... gotta love the "newness" of everything

DD is 20 months and we JUST started putting her food in a bowl consistently. We tried a few months ago and she'd just dump it. Now she seems to unerstand the concept that if she dumps it, she loses it (so no dumping has occurred).
The spoon/fork/spork thing was a huge novelty at first. So much so that I started just giving it to her at the end of the meal, or only at dessert. This way I ensured she'd at least eaten enough.
Now, she's using utensils to eat rather than play.
Can't believe how fast she's growing!

I have just started putting food in bowls also. Usually I just let her eat of the tray or I fed her. She still eats with her fingers but she does take food one at a time out of the bowl. I use the suction ones so she can't dump it on her head. I tried to use plates and they went flying. So far she hasn't been able to get the suction bowls off her tray.
