I know they say never wake a sleeping baby... BUT... should

I wake my 4 week old to breastfeed him every 2 hours in hopes that he will give me a longer stretch at night?

Do you mean during the day? (waking him)

I wouldn't....

No. He will only give the longer stretch when he is ready. No amount of feeding, cereal etc will help...in my opinion.

We woke DS to eat every 3 hrs during the day (most times we didn't have to).

He gave us a good stretch at night but, every baby is different.

nope, it doesn't make a difference, they are wired to eat all day, no matter what time it is

rest when he rests and feed on demand Chat Icon

ITA also. He will also get to know days and nights eventually. I remember calling my doctor's office freaking out because DS slept 5 hours without waking...I was so scared not knowing if that was okay! But eventually they figure it out. I think he was about 6 weeks when he started going for longer stretches at night. So just try to hang on a few more weeks!
