I know we have outdid our posts on Palin, but I have a confession...

I really am disappointed.

I wanted to like her.

I love she is a mom. I love she has a baby. I even love she is the mom of a special needs baby. I love how feisty and strong she is.

But I can't look past some things. FACTUAL things - not the media stuff. I even liked that she has a pregnant teen daughter. Thats real to me.....

I wanted to love her. I don't consider myself strictly a democrat. I was willing to vote for someone I agreed with.

I know she isn't running for pres, but with how old McCain is, its possible if they are elected she could be pres....

Just venting....

I like her a LOT! lots to admire about how far she has come - esp as a woman.

but I don't agree with her ultra conservative values.

Exactly.....

Do you feel that her conservative values would get in the way of her decisions for the country?

Is there anyway someone could remove that part of themselves to think objectively for the greater good?

For example, I have my own personal family values, but when I work with a family, I focus on their values, not mine... KWIM?

good question, I'm not really sure.

Bush is about as conservative as it gets - but women still have a right to choose. yes he has cut funding to planned parenthood, but he never sought to have Roe v Wade overturned. not that he could on his own anyway.

what I don't like about her is that she is cut funding for special needs children in her own state by 62%, but then says she will be an advocate for special needs children in Washington Chat Icon

I also don't like that she wants creationism taught in school and wants to cut funding for sex education in school Chat Icon

Liza, I know EXACTLY how you feel. I wanted to support her, but she stands for everything against what I believe. I am pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro sex education, against censorship and for equal pay for equal work. For that alone, I could never vote for her.

But that in itself is equality. I am declining to vote for a woman candidate because I disagree with her position. Can't get more equal than that. Chat Icon

I am less concerned with her damn family and more interested in WHAT U CAN DO FOR OUR COUNTRY!!!! I feel like her family gossip is in the forefront, I am so over it. I wanted to like her too--but I am already sick of her.

You have to take everything you read with a grain of salt.. about both parties... and do your own research via legitimate sources. The media skews things and leaves out details purposely.

Like you Liza, I WANT a woman in office. But I'm not comfortable with THIS woman. Yes, she's a great speaker, but her views are way TOO conservative for me. Environment is a concern for me as is the protection of Roe Vs. Wade. I can't vote for someone who lives in one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world and doesn't support fully its protection. Plus, I also find it *weird* that she only has a bachelors degree. I don't know why that doesn't sit well with me, but it does. Chat Icon

Please, SweetestofPeas...don't comdemn me on this one, too. Chat Icon

I agree.
I even thought well if worse comes to worse, she will fight for things like special needs and then the truth about how she cut special needs programs come out..

.I just cannot like her or agree with anything she stands for and its a shame b/c i will NOT be excited, I will be sad and dissapointed that she would be the 1st female VP if so elected. To me as a women, BASED ON MY BELIEFS ONLY( no bashing please) ..she is a disgrace to the 2008 women b/c her beliefs take us down to times and repression we fought sooooo hard to evolve from.

She was picked 24 years after a woman was put on the democrat ticket for VP - If I were a republican I'd be saying "it's about damn time!"

She scares me to death. I find her views way too extreme - to me, she's Cheney in a skirt.

I really like her. I am a republican, but I was considering voting for Obama, and now that I've seen Palin, I am thinking of voting for McCain, because I REALLY like her and think she and McCain can make a great difference........

I'm a registered Republican. I don't know that I would say I like her. I will say that I really respect that she has not changed her beliefs in order to advance her career. She seems smart, she has to know that a lot of her beliefs aren't going to play well to women nationwide. I find that admirable since it seems to be that many times politicians back-peddle their stance on things to appeal to whichever group they are speaking to at that moment.
