I didn't read all of the comments .......... I don't disagree with her approach, or think she's an insensitive a$$hole .......
I just don't think your entire life story needs to be put out there on the internet . You put it out there and people are going to internalize it, comment on it, rip it apart etc. If you're good with that ........well, then OK - but I just don't see ANY reason for this diary entry to be out in the universe.
And YESSSSS to this! I feel like writing a blog. I will discuss waking up in the morning, how hard it is to get out of bed, the struggle to find panties that don't show through my light colored pants, how I'm never really satisfied with my make up, how my hair only comes out great on days I have nothing to do. Then I will muse about my compulsive overeating and my PMS symptoms getting worse as I get older. How I long to get a pedicure but the fear of fungus is real and my toenail has not been the same since I had a fungus 3 years ago. How my cell phone charger is not long enough to reach when I need to charge while sitting on the couch. The struggle is real folks! #firstworldproblems
sounds like a more interesting version of my news feed ;)

Article I am not sure what the author hoped to accomplish with this post. But she is being eaten alive in the comments. I feel like she is totally out of touch with the reality of most people, and comes across as insensitive.
While it's always interesting to get a glimpse into another person's world, their thinking and their way of life, I just don't understand why some people have the desire to tell the universe about themselves in great detail. It seems as if lately, some feel self important enough to believe that the rest of us ought to be interested in whatever it is they are doing.
I was surprised to see someone I know, who is not a celebrity, featured on the cover of a magazine and in an article that made her look incredibly entitled and out of touch. It amazed me to see how she put her personality flaws out there for the world to see and seemingly did not recognize how she might come across. I have never mentioned it to her, but I was not the only one who knew her who was shocked.

Re: "I made a huge sacrifice to have my dream home" article
I write a blog. I write about home organization. There is a definite line though between oversharing and putting enough out there so that people relate. Being honest is important and this woman was definitely honest- maybe too much so. Nothing is better for me than when people tell me they relate, or share a tip of their own, or try an idea I shared. And maybe that's what she wanted- to see if anyone understood her. Or maybe she just wanted to brag about the strength she showed in the face of her great sacrifice.

I didn't read the comments responding to the "article," but I understand where she's coming from. I took her entry for what it was: venting, not necessarily looking for pity...doesn't everybody and their mother vent online these days? Whether it's a blog, FB, messageboards...you name it.

I think she is either totally self absorbed or totally dumb to launch this post and not to expect the backlash she has created OR she needed some traffic to her blog so did it for the shock factor.

Re: "I made a huge sacrifice to have my dream home" article
I don't get the point of why she shared that information with the world, but I also don't see the point in all the anger of the comments..
this woman's story has nothing to do with anyone else - its a "struggle" that she and her husband are dealing with. If anyone chooses not to have kids, its their own private choice, and has zero to do with anyone else who may not be able to. Just because another woman can't have kids, and this woman can, doesn't mean that she should!
but on a lighter note.. FWP indeed

She made a choice, not a sacrifice. The article is full of exaggeration, which discredits any writing abilities she may (or may not) possess.

I don't know why people feel the need to write blogs ........about THEMSELVES.
Here's why:
"Become a member of The Mix, Hearst’s contributor network. Get your stories published on some of the world’s most famous web publications, each with its own unique and expansive audiences. Be promoted by Hearst’s editors to tens of millions of engaged readers. Share your content. Build your readership. Make money.
We send out a daily assignment email with story topics created by our editors. Submit your story and, if we publish it, you get paid $100. We also offer bonuses based on traffic. Choose as many assignments as you’d like."
There are some journal-style bogs that I like, but they aren't in it for $ & they aren't whiny.
When I took a magazine writing class in college , my professor would always ask--what's the point?"--i was never really good at having a point, so I realized magazine writing wasn't for me. This lady apparently never learned that lesson.

Which means she is making money off all the traffic and negative posts.

People need to spend less time being envious and putting other people down and more time worrying about themselves and trying to figure out how to make their own lives better. Just my two cents.
I didn't read the comments so you might be right about people being jealous.
However, I also wouldn't automatically label her critics as jealous - especially the people on here, whose posts I did read. As far as this thread goes, I don't see jealousy. I see people just calling out someone who sounds like an asshole. It's her tone.
If she had said "I don't think we could swing a third even though I would love one, but we have our dream home and two beautiful kids, so life is good" no one would bat an eye.
But she doesn't do that. Instead she starts off self righteous, describing her choices and hinting that they are superior to that of others. Then she goes on to lament said choices and make it sound like she's got a real struggle on her hands.
I just think that if there are two ways to say something and one is obnoxious and one is humble, people who pick the former are people I don't need to listen to.

Re: "I made a huge sacrifice to have my dream home" article
I don't understand why she is receiving so many negative comments. DH and I decided 2 would be enough for us (if we are blessed with a 2nd), and a lot had to do with finances. We like to take family vacations, live in a nice house, in a nice area. We want to give our children some extras, and a 3rd would put a financial strain on that. If we really wanted a 3rd, I guess we could sell the house and downsize with a smaller mortgage, but I can see her dilemma.
I think the people commenting are reading more into her having nice things, "The American Dream", and that isn't right. The article was about her being torn between having a 3rd child and having to downsize her life, or being happy with what she has. People face this type of situation more than we know.
