I need your help in ideas to raise money!

Hey guys I need help and ideas in raising money for a trip. Just a quick background. I work in a very poor neighborhood. I've had my kids for two years now (looped up) and wanted to do something extra special with them for the end. We took a trip to Ellis Island and they were soo amazed!!! A lot never have been on a ferry or even near water! So I was thinking either taking them to Jekyll and Hyde in Midtown or Mars2112. They are both asking for about 13-15 a kid which is too much to ask for. I was wgoing to pay for most of the trip but cannot afford $300. Any quick ways (schools out in 2 weeks) that I can raise a reasonable amount of money? I know bake sales are big. Any web sites that donate money? I even emailed Tyra Banks! Thanks ladies!

there is a website for teachers to use to ask for moeny and supplies, but i am blanking on the name... i am so sorry! someone posted a link of something they were doing just recently... maybe they can post the website again?

also, perhaps you can do something a little cheaper than taking them out to eat? if you want to take them to midtown manhattan anyway, how about a lunch in Central Park? even if you bought the lunch supplies, it would still be cheaper than a meal out. then, i don't know how old your kids are, but they could take advantage of the playground there, the boats, the reservoir, etc.

also, if you are a NYC you can take them to most of the museums, botanical gardens, etc..for free.

i would call the place that youre thinking of going to eat at, and ask for a modified menu price-fix, bc your students cant afford this price (dont tell them youre paying). tell them how much they'd love it, you can come at an off-peak time, their place is on the list of favorites, it will be in the class newsletter, (you can put a blurb about it in your class note to parents so you dont feel like your lying) etc.

any good place will work with you, if it means making a special day for these children.

jeckyll & hydes also has a $3pp entertainment fee, make sure to ask about that incase its thrown in at the end.

and the place that does it, gets a nice thank you card with a phot of the kids eating there, what better publicity to put in their walls ?? =)

eta: what area are you in? are you planning a full day with activities also, or just out to eat ?
