I obviously did the wrong thing, WWYD?
DS is 9 months. He STTN but yesterday and this morning he was up at 5:15AM! He usually wakes up about 6:15 ocassionally later. IMO, 9 hours is not enough sleep (8PM-5AM).
Anyway, he wasn't crying, just babbling so I figured he'd fall asleep on his own. 10 minutes, 20, 30, 1 hour and he's still laying there babbling, staring at the ceiling in the dark. He finally fell asleep over an hour later after i gave him a paci but woke up for the day 25 minutes later (at 6:45AM).
What would you have done? Paci earlier? Nothing? I'm so tired, been up since 5 and DH is away. I'm sure this will happen again tomorrow morning.

I would have done the same thing. If my kids get up early (they are 8 1/2 months and used to sleep til 7-7:30 and now start fussing about 5-5:30) I don't get them unless they are really crying. If they are happy, babbling etc. I leave them.
Their sleep patters change around 8-9 months IMO....my older son did the same thing and it lasted a few weeks then he went back to sleeping 11hrs a night.

Re: I obviously did the wrong thing, WWYD?
DS (4m) goes to bed around 8pm after his bottle wakes around 5:30 to 6:00 am, we aren't sure actually because he's quiet babbling a little usually look at his toys, his hands, rolling from side to side looking around. At around 6am DH's alarm goes off and we hear DS whining for us. I go in say hi, pick him up, change the poopie diaper, which is always the case, give him kisses, bring him to daddy for kisses and put him back in the crib. He babbles and plays for an hour or so, then nods off usually, sometimes he doesn't.
A few times, I totally overslept, DH let me, and he said DS just stayed in the crib for 2 hours, I felt awful, but when I greeted him, he smiled at me no issues.
I'm at a loss as to what to do as well with him. He never sleeps more than those 8.5-9hours straight. He naps terribly. Like 1.5 hour a time twice a day. He just wants to play all the time. He doesn't cry. So even if I do CIO, I don't know what will happen he'll just lay there and chew on his toes for a few hours.
I ask variations on this question all the time here, I always get the same general response. "If he's not crying leave him. But I couldn't leave him for too long"
I wish there was like a rule book with exact numbers and times to the minute, of what to do when.

I think you did the right thing!
If he is just hanging out in there, let him be! If you physically get him up, then he will be ready to start the day.
