Re: I spent last night in the hospital***UPDATE- I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST
Oh Valerie my heart goes out to you.
How scary for you!!!
The good news is that the doctors seem to be on top of the issue and your tests will give them the answers that all of you need. In this way, they can treat the issue in the best way possible. I also hope you are feeling better today and you get all the answers you need very soon!!!!
I will be thinking and praying for you this week!!!!

Re: I spent last night in the hospital***UPDATE- I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST
Posted by joenick Guys...I am so scared. Everytime I look at my sons, I can't help but cry. My husband is a mess too, but tries not to let it show. My parents are a wreck, but I kinda downplay it with them. I don't need them to be more nervous. I'll keep you all posted as I get through each test. Please, I just ask that you say a prayer or two for me. Hopefully it is nothing, and we'll all be able to laugh about it when it's all over.
I know you are scared but please realize we live in a time where these things can be very treatable and they are very common.
I come from a family with a history of heart issues. There are many medications that can help you.
I will pray that everything works out and I'm sure it will. It is a good thing you went to the cardiologist. They will take good care of you!

Re: I spent last night in the hospital***UPDATE- I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST
I completely agree with Kate, don't assume the worst at this point. People live normal lives with all sorts of heart arrhythmias. There are lifestyle changes and medications that can help these situations tremendously. You have youth on your side, a will to correct this problem and a great support system in your family.
I know that when you have to wait for results and feel helpless, your mind will come up with all sorts of ideas about what you think the outcome will be. I know it's so tough, but try not to fear the worst just yet. Try to enjoy your children and the holidays coming up and deal with the results when you get them.
I wish you the best of luck, and hope for good news!

Re: I spent last night in the hospital***UPDATE- I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST
Oh shhitt Val! I am so sorry you are dealing with this.
First a heart rate of 90 is not bad, mine is always in the high 80s and when you are nervous it goes up.
I dont know why you have to wait to do the halter monitor or until 12/19 to have an echo, doesnt your doctor have those in his office, mine has done it right there on the spot for me. I would think a cardiologist would have those two things immediately available?
IMO that is too long to wait, (for your sanity in the very least), I would call another cardiologist and see if they do it any sooner? Do you have any out of network benefits to see mine. It might be worth it to pay a few dollars for some peace of mind in the next couple weeks.
Did he say whether you can just have an arrrythmia that can be controlled by medication?
Finally I am here for you. Always, at the drop of a hat. You just let me know what you need and when and I am there.
Consider yourself prayed for

Re: I spent last night in the hospital***UPDATE- I WENT TO THE CARDIOLOGIST
A very similar situation occured with me too. I went through all of the tests that you have lined up, i was in and out of the ER, back and fourth to the cardiologist. I was put on med to regulate my HB. it was tachycardia (sp) + they found i had MVP and a mild arrythmia. Thankfully the medication helped alot, the palps were controlled and my heart wasnt racing a million miles a minute. I know the not knowing is extremely scary, but stress makes it worss. just know that help is always there if something happens to you. Teach your children to dial 911 if possible. Good luck

I am sorry you are going through this. Try not to worry too much until you know what to worry about (I know easier said then done). Don't look anything up on the internet!! Get doctors you trust. It sounds like you are on top of things so you will get answers soon.

First of all, thank you EVERYONE for your prayers and well-wishes. It really means ALOT to me!!!
Second, Pauline...thanks. Where I'm going is the BIGGEST Cardiology office in Nassau County (right on Stewart Avenue in Garden City). There are 10 cardiologists there and I was referred to "the best" according to 3 of the receptionists (there are like 15 of them there alone ). The doc was great, listened to everything I had to say and is DETERMINED to get to the root of the problem. The office is a self-contained cardiology office and they DO do all the tests on the premises. However, due to the timing of my app't yesterday, I couldn't get the halter monitor then. And I couldn't pick it up today cause I have to go to a library class with Nicholas after school, so that's why I'm picking it up tomorrow. As for all the other tests, they have to be scheduled due to the 3,000 90+ year old patients there hogging all the equipment!!
And the cardiologist said 90 for me was bad cause it was taken when I am totally at rest. Plus combined with the arrhythmia, chest pains, and the fact that I can hardly breathe...he said there is a problem lurking SOMEWHERE...and he assured me he would figure it out.
So for now, I wait and try not to worry. I'll let you all know how the halter monitor works out for me. Should look REALLY sexy!!
Thanks for all of your continued prayers and well-wishes!!!
