Do you think that we have Icons in the future?
I just have seen sooooo many icon from the past and a bunch from when i was growing up....
Lately i really haven't seen anyone that i feel is a true Icon.

Hmm interesting question. I don't really see people out there today that are "ICONS"
BUT I often think that you do not realize there is an "icon" in your midst until many many years later... then you can realize their impact on your generation

trebek is good, but he wasn't the original host of jeopardy
bob barker has hosted for 34 years, the longest running TV game show in history
sorry, bob outranks alex IMO

well you mentioned marilyn monroe and elvis! unless elvis hasn't left the building, and marilyn is still standing over a subway vent, I can mention MT and PD.

The only one I can think of in THIS generation *MAYBE* is Oprah
She broke barriers down and became perhaps the most powerful, respected and influential females of our time. She was instrumental in the creation of the modern daytime TV talk show format.. not to mention she influences so many other areas as well (publishing, her book club, charitable work, producing films, etc)

actually, i contradicted myself
bob wasn't the orginal host of price either, bill cullen hosted in the 50's, but it was a MUCH different game and format. The format we know and love today started in 1972 and has continued to today, with bob as host.

Oh yeah I think there will definitely be future icons you just never know what new challanges or triumphs await us in the future. I think there are still amazing people who have yet to be born who could have a huge impact on the world be it politically, artistically, etc.

Ah...so you mean someone who is around NOW that will be considered an Icon later...
I don't really see any, no. Maybe Britney Spears will be along the lines of Madonna.
I can see maybe Charlize Theron being actor icon... because she's doing so many Oscar worthy films. She also has a Marilyn Monroe-esque quality about her...very old Hollywood.

But do you see any from the 90's or 2000 that you would consider Icons?
