If I ever have a daughter,
I hope she doesn't grow up thinking being 'Daddy's little princess beyotch' is a GOOD thing.
I was just reading Cosmo girl (someone gave it to me the other day) and between that and watching Bridezillas and Say Yes to the Dress, I don't get why girls WANT to be these snooty brats.

Re: If I ever have a daughter,
As a mom of a girl, it is HOW they were raised...with an air of entitlement, spoiled, no concern for others, etc.
You can have money and be wealthy and not raise your children to be spoiled brats. Yet, you can have both parents working two jobs just to pay for designer clothes, cell phones, and other crap that is not necessary for their kids.
If my daughter EVER acted the way some do on my super sweet 16 or bridezillas, I WOULD NOT pay ANY $$$$ towards her car or her wedding and she would have to pay for it ALL herself. PERIOD.
This is one of my pet peeves about girls today...

Re: If I ever have a daughter,
I agree with the PP.... It's how you raise them and what you let them get away with. I'm sure you'll be great when the time comes!

Re: If I ever have a daughter,
My 6 yr old niece came home from school the other day and told her mother she wanted "real Uggs"..her mom said, you do have real Uggs (they weren't) and my niece said - No mom, the real ones are spelled U-G-G-S She said a little girl in her class was making fun of her bc she has fake Uggs..and my ILs can afford to buy her real ones they just did not think it was necessary..but the neighborhood they live in is just like that....

Re: If I ever have a daughter,
ITA... it's in how they are raised.
whenever i do watch those shows, i always notice how they are never taught that there are consequences to your behavior.
i have a boy, and he has been taught from the very beginning that i'm not one to blow my top, i'll just take things you love away from you. he's also learned the hard way that i have no problem with breaking and throwing away what i just spent $500 on to teach you a lesson.

This just makes me so Why is materialism so important? I see even adults who carry this attitude. They can barely pay their mortgage but have the $2,000 handbag. It just makes me so sad.

When I taught kindergarten there was one little girl in the class who would comment on what the other kids were wearing too. It got bad - girls were crying after recess, parents complaining that their kids didn't want to wear their clothes or shoes anymore because she'd make fun - so I eventually had to talk to her mother about it.
The mom was really embarassed and claimed to have no idea where the girl had gotten such ideas from... but if you looked at the mom, everything was designer and label from head to toe. Not that there's anything at all wrong with wearing expensive or label clothes, but young kids are impressionable and reflect their parents' priorities, and she had to have learned SOMEWHERE that this brand/style/name is better than that one... my guess is that she imitated what she saw/heard her mom doing. Teaching by example can be a powerful thing. I want to try to remember that when I have kids.

Re: If I ever have a daughter,
All the $$$ in the world can't buy class. It also can't make you the kind of persn that anyone worth snt would marry, befriend, or hire. Not quite a recipe for happiness or a successful life....
