maybe you'd like to share your recipes!!!
I'm one of those people who don't measure, but if you really want some, I can figure it out
i don't measure either so i would be fine with that!! i would love recipes!!

Topps will not enter my home........DH thinks that's snobbish....whatever, he eats good!
Topps? Ha! That shyte is more like Slopps! Most of those frozen burgers are like 25% fat...although, in the case of BBQing, a little fat is good because the fat-drips actually add flavor as the meat is cooking, so you don't want to use meat that's TOO lean.

I have a tempermental, high-needs toddler. There's no way in hell I'm preparing all my food for a BBQ - Costco has become my best friend for gatherings with friends

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
really depends on the crowd, up to 6 people sure I'll make burgers and other salads. But when we have big party or the family over that can be up to 40 people. no way am I making all those burgers! LOL
BJ's Sirloin Burgers in the 15 pack are decent and if I need steak I'll get the whole Filet from Stew Leonards and they cut it up and package it right there.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
last BBQ we made our own side dishes, pastas and burgers, but I never make the condiments/dressings on my own. I am way to lazy to even attempt that.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
forget guests coming over, DH refuses to eat pre made burger patties. he and my Dad both feel the same - hand patted is way better.
since I season the ground beef or turkey, it would be moot point for me to buy the pre made patties.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
We never use frozen hockey pucks (I mean burgers). I always use fresh sirloin chop meat, season and make our own... And the hot dogs can only be Sabretts.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
Usually make our own. When I had DH's BBQ b'day party we did use the pre-packaged sirloin burgers from BJ's. It was just easier for such a large group of people

totally depends on the guests, who they are, how many of them there are etc. I definately prefer to make my own, but sometimes its just not practical!

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
Depends on the size of the party. Small group of people (that we like), DH might make homemade burgers.
For a large group, prepackaged.
But never, ever Topps. DH hates them.

do you serve pre-packaged burgers or season meat and make your own?
do you make any of your condiments/salads/toppings?
I SKEEEEEEEVE prepackaged burgers. I cannot eat a Costco burger to save my life.
since I am a whackjob, everyone else benefits. I make my own schtuff. (not ketchup ) I also make my own onions for hotdogs. it's so easy!
1. Depends on the amount of people, usually if it is a lot of people, it's cheaper to buy the meat and shape on my own.
2. If I am just having family over, I buy everything but the pasta salad, which I make myself, because DH doesn't like mayo.
For large scale BBQs, I make my own potato salad, side dishes, and pasta salad.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
I buy pre-made sirloin burgers from the butcher. They're not frozen but I don't make them either so I'm not really sure which catagory they would go into.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
Lately, we have been getting meat from DH's friend's butcher shop. We get rave reviews of everything we have served from them. I make side salads once in a while but I prefer to go to Uncle Guisseppe's.

i like fresh chopped meat, but i'll buy the pre-shaped fresh hamburgers. It almost doesn't make sense though because I usually reshape them anyway.

Re: If you are throwing a BBQ (having guests over)
For regular burgers, we get pre-packaged but that is what happens when your DH works in the restaurant business.
If I am making turkey burgers, I make them myself as I have different varieties.
Salads & side dishes are basically made from scratch

DH is very picky about meat so he always makes the burgers himself with quality (read: expensive ) meat from the butcher.
This is how my Dad does it. Plus he buys the expensive hot dogs from the butcher too. I will rarely have a BBQ because I could never top my Dad's
