Yup, especially with the Delta variant out there. As I mentioned in another thread, my parents' doctor told them yesterday to double mask on public transportation, so I'm just fine wearing a mask in stores until this thing is beaten once and for all.
(I'm also a teacher, and I had to wear it everyday for the whole year -- a few minutes in a store is nothing for my own peace of mind.)
Do you really think it will just be beaten once and for all with the variants they keep coming up with? Maybe after awhile they will realize people are not scared anymore, have gotten back to normal life and won’t deal with the media trying to control us forever.
I really do think it can be beaten once and for all if enough people get vaccinated, yes. That's the whole point of herd immunity. It's how other vaccines have always worked.
And I am not scared. I trust journalists and don't think "the media" is the enemy. I am, however, wondering why you're on this thread since it asked vaccinated people's opinions, and you aren't one of those people (although I'm well aware you have plenty of opinions. Guess what -- I'm not interested.)
I agree with you. The more people that get vaccinated the less resilient the virus becomes. It might not ever be fully eradicated (time will tell) but we can certainly take COVID down from a global threat to maybe a virus that is no more threatening than getting a cold or flu.

If you are vaccinated, are you still wearing a mask?
Sweet Jesus, someone needs a LIFE. I WISH my life was so boring and empty that I obsess like a deranged lunatic about someone else wearing a mask. Now she calls someone out for being a KIND human being and doing something so insignificant to help someone else feel more comfortable? The fact that such self centered, uncompassionate, and deranged people exist in this world will be the downfall of society.

How no one sees the double standard of all of this is amazing. Assumptions of why someone is wearing a mask just like others are being accused of. But as long as you put your own mask on you are ok and a better person even though it makes absolutely no sense to do so.

It's absolutely beyond comprehension at this point in time.

I waited about 3 weeks before dropping my mask to see if the numbers spiked. They didn’t, so I am more casual about it. I always have it with me and if I’m in a store that I can’t be distanced from people, I’ll put it on. Or if I’m standing near someone w mask and gloves, to make them more comfortable , I put my mask on because it’s obv that if they are that covered up, it’s still super scary for them. The masks never bothered me enough to fight it. I mean, my throat hurt more and I had ear pain (1 infection) from wearing it all day everyday at work - but once i got used to it , that stopped.
So kind. I think it's great you do that.
Thank you. I get it. I understand fear. I have quite a few that you can even say are irrational. Take my fear of bees for instance… people who know me, know I how I feel about them. So if we’re planning something outdoors, friends will sit closer to the flowers or leave me on the outside part of a table so I can RUN if I see one lol. May sound nuts to some people. Or it’s my problem and I shouldn’t get pick of a seat because of it. But I appreciate it. So if putting my mask on will help ease someone’s anxiety for the 3 minutes we stand to order cold cuts at the Deli, so be it. It’s the least I can do to help their day be a little easier.
How do you know they have anxiety though because they are wearing a mask and/or gloves? Maybe they don’t know the rules or don’t understand them well.
I am all for helping other people but if someone has a huge issue with masks and others not wearing them, then they truly need to stay home a little bit more and speak to someone about it.
I don’t know for sure, you’re right. But To me, someone still so covered up seems to be being extra cautious so it doesn’t hurt for me to ease their anxiety by putting my mask on. I really don’t mind it at all.
That’s like saying I shaved my head because I saw someone with cancer and I wanted to ease their anxiety.
I have continually been slammed for noticing people wearing masks out but now it is ok if you notice them but put your mask on to make them feel better. Even though you have no clue why they are wearing it and just assume they are anxious. I am told I shouldn’t care why they are but now we should?
???????
Shaving my head for a stranger with cancer is a little more involved then putting a mask on for a few minutes to ease someone’s nerves. I know assuming isn’t the smartest thing like assuming someone’s age, etc. but common sense tells me someone still covered up is someone still concerned about transmission. I’m not saying YOU should do the same. It’s just something I do - like holding the door for someone, or reaching a high shelf for an elderly person/short person at the grocery store. You shouldn’t care if someone still wears their mask. It’s their business. Just like it’s mine to put mine on around those being extra cautious.
ITA. There is ZERO need to try and understand why someone continues to wear a mask (or not), there is ZERO need to demand someone explain their choice either way and their is ZERO need for anyone to concern themselves with the choices someone else makes for themselves.
I think you're being very considerate of others with your actions, there is nothing at all wrong with that.
No need to try and understand and no need for anyone to concern themselves with their choice but there IS a need to understand and concern themselves enough to put a mask on when you wouldn’t otherwise. Gotcha.
No, you absolutely don’t get it. Any amount of explaining it to you will never be enough for you to understand. It is beyond your capabilities

no, unless I am in a place where they require it, such as a doctor's office.
So my husband went to his doctor last month for a physical and he walked in with his mask on and they asked him if he was vaccinated and he said no. The receptionist said, oh too bad, you could have taken your mask off if you were. He said the whole staff had no masks on. Including the doctor. I found that very strange

Wow that is odd as I have been to a bunch of doctors and one dentist lately and all require. I guess since they are private they can do what they want. I wonder if he would have had to show proof or even if they were allowed to ask.
My child had theirs not on properly and I told them they need to fix it while no one was on the room. Not one person said anything about it. Why require it if you don’t enforce it?

Most of the time. I didn't wear it when I was getting my hair done since everyone was pretty spread out. But I wear it food shopping and any place where I might be crammed in next to people on line to pay or something.

I think the 6 feet in a checkout line should stay. I love that and don’t feel rushed.

Nope. I rarely if ever wear one at the stores, mall or indoors anywhere. And since school ended, i rarely put one on my kids. My children have gone in stores with me with no mask nor would i put one on them if they asked. Luckily no one says anything. Even went to my doctor without one.

I’m glad no one has said anything, I think it should be like that at this point. Heck, it should have been like that a long time ago!

I see a lot of kids in stores with no masks lately Kids that are clearly to young to be vaccinated.

It’s all your fault for the delta variant and the spread. Just you and no one else. All these maskless children ruining it for everyone. Those of you that continue to mask while vaccinated are better than everyone. Hopefully the sarcasm is not lost on this post.

If you are vaccinated, are you still wearing a mask?
I still wear a mask indoors. My child is too young to get vaccinated and I do not need to bring anything home to her. The COVID rate is increasing in NY again we are now around 1% up from around 0.2% a month ago- It requires such little effort and is one tiny layer of protection.

I still wear my mask indoors as well. I am 22 weeks pregnant & feel more comfortable this way.
