We do class gifts - but yes my girls got notes mailed to them over the break hand written by each teacher.

We justmoved right before the holidays so we were only able to give a very small gift (gift box of chocolates) and we received a thank you note from all the teachers (1 for DD and 2 for DS)
But I dont expect one for Xmas gifts.
