Re: If You Could Speak Another Language

I was nearly fluent in Spanish after college but I "lost it" since I never spoke it so I would like to go back to that perhaps. Or maybe Italian since all I know are cursewords!

Chinese - hands down. I already speak Spanish and that helps me with interpreting Italian and French. It makes practical sense to learn a language that is going to be a HUGE part of the economy.

Latin- my vocabulary would kickass, and it would make learning Spanish, German, Italian, French, Portuguese, etc all so much easier.

I totally agree! I wish my high school offered it...and I regret not taking it in college. So many other languages are based on Latin.

This is so true! If I had had to learn Latin in high school, other languages would have at least been decipherable (sp?) to me. And, I would have kicked a** on the SATs!

Italian!

My SIL is Italian and I LOVE how one minute she's talking to all of us in English then turns to her mother and starts a whole conversation in Italian! It's beautiful.Chat Icon

German. Just because I see so many German words, or phrases, and I can kind of get the "gist" but don't understand totally what they mean. It seems to be very close to English in many ways, but so different at the same time.

Re: If You Could Speak Another Language

Spanish and Korean since that is what a majority of the second language learners in this area speak. As a teacher, it would make communication so much easier. I hate having interpreters!

Re: If You Could Speak Another Language

I would have to say Italian or French Because both are beautiful languages but Italian is truely my favorite. I one day would love to live in Firenza (dream). I found it to have alot of great qualities, small city with historical land marks and beautiful country land scape.

Chinese because it's the language spoken most in this world and will become even more so in the future, unless the Indian population catches up.

French 'cus it sounds great.

Oh wait... I speak both languages so I would say Spanish so I can understand why ppl are talking about me in the subway. hehe. :D

Re: If You Could Speak Another Language

French. My dad speaks French and I just love the way it sounds.

Also, I have found when traveling abroad that many people speak French & English more so that other languages.

I also want to learn Arabic just for kicks. DH speaks Arabic and I know only a few words so far. It has come in handy for us when shopping in our area Chat Icon
