SPR.. how often do you speak to your inlaws?
DH went away this weekend and I was thinking, nice, a weekend to myself to go shopping and do ME things. Well, my MIL just called inviting me to dinner tonight (probably w/my SIL too) and asked me to invite my mom. Well, I really don't want to go but I haven't seen them in like a month. I feel bad and will probably go, it will only be a few hours, but it got me wondering how often people really speak or see their inlaws. DH usually visits them while I am busy (he stops there on his way home from work or on Saturday mornings while I'm working).
How often do you call or see your MIL or FIL on your own (w/o DH)?

My inlaws live less than 5 minutes away... we speak to them almost everyday.

MY IL's live about ten minutes away we speak several times a week and see each other at least once a week.
When my DH travels we get together for dinner.

Mine live a mile away and I speak to MIL almost every day...I see them a few times a week as well...

I speak to my MIL over e-mail about every other day. My FIL travels alot but I speak to him over e-mail when I can. Nobody is real fans of the phone. I probably should call my MIL more often though.

I never talk to them. ever. They want me to call but i don't . Oh well, i'm a bad DIL.
PS they don't try very hard either.

As much as possible. I talk to them once a week and we make trips to see them every 1-2 months. But, they live 5 hours away so it's always w/DH.

A few times a week? How do you have time? Do you work during the week? I just cant imagine seeing them during the week especially after work. I'd like to make more time but I feel like I'm always so busy.

Even if I don't have the time, they make me find the time...they are very easy going and "stop by" quite often...we are lucky that they are willing to help with any project we are working on (painting, cleaning, etc)...I am a special ed teacher and I work over an hour from home...its tough but we are making it work

i don't ever talk to them if dh does not.... he does not get along with his mother very well, so we talk to her on occasion and his father we see about 2 times a month.. funny thing his dad lives around the corner and his mom lives like 5 minutes away does not bother me a bit!

I will talk to my MIL over IM (she lives in Florida) from time to time.
I speak to my SMIL all of the time, and soon we will see her at least 2x week since she is watching  when both DH and I have to work.

You're bad??? How's this....mine live in walking distance from my apartment and I NEVER see them. I haven't since my wedding in October. That includes my BIL's and MIL. I have seen FIL once or twice (they are divorced) and spokend to him a few times as well.
They don't try and neither do I. I see no point in "making nice" with them. I hate fake people so I refuse to be fake.

My in laws are divorced. I speak to MIL maybe once a week or so. I speak to FIL less - he's close with DH but he and I are just not very close. We have a better "10 minute phone relationship" than anything else.
