If you delivered at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset what can you tell me about it ? Also has anyone used dr. Victor Klein?
what was your experience like at the hospital and the dr? I just got a positive on pregnancy test and trying to find a new high risk OBGYN . I got this guys name but he is affiliated with NSUH in Manhasset. I live in Queens so it's a bit far I think , but I'm willing to go since I'll be scheduled for a C/S.
Thanks

I delivered there for the third time in August. I wouldnt go anywhere else. They just opened a brand new maternity ward and it is beautiful. All private rooms with hotel amenities. I really enjoyed my stay. I had a repeat c section as well. I live an hour from NSUH and it wasnt an issue at all since it was a scheduled C.

I delievered my DS there 16 months ago and I loved it. I also live in Queens - Whitestone and did not find it long to get there.
They were getting ready to open their brand new maternity wing, so I was still in the old area.
The nurses were great and very accommodating.
My only compliant was the constant pushing of breast feeding. I had no intentions of BFing and knew even before I got pregnant that I would not want to do it.
But EVERY single nurse kept asking me "are we going to try Breast feeding today?" Even after I asked it be written down that I wasn't BFing.

At the time he was with Great Neck OBGYN. He happened to be my Dr and on call the night I delivered.
By goofy I mean.... straight forward with a twist of humor... Examples:
While closing me up after my C section he said, "As they say in Finland, I am Finished".
I was nervous after learning I needed an emergency Csection. He said, If you think you are nervous, you will be my first patient I have ever tried this with".
On telling us to abstain until 6 weeks post c-section he said, "No messing around for 6 weeks." He then looked at my husband and said, "there is always the internet".
My and MrDrMatt have a lot of knowledge about the medical field and we were both were 100% confident in his ability as an OB. I trusted him with my life and my daughter's life.
I was very sad when he left the practice. I had to stay with Great Neck for insurance reasons.
He is also on staff at North Shore.

My first two kids were delivered at LIJ in New Hyde Park My 3rd child- I delivered there just 4 weeks ago!
WOW!!! What a difference! It was a spectacular experierince! It was like a hotel! They just recently opened the new maternity wing! I am so glad my third and prob final was there!
It really was like a hotel! The bathroom was something in a Marriott with beautiful tile and an extra large CLEAN shower! ALL TO MYSELF (At LIJ I had three roomates! )
The food was actually REALLY good! and I loved that it was room service - I could order whatever and whenever I wanted...The chicken pesto pesto on focaccia bread was my fav
My DH slept there all three nights on a pull out couch type of thing! Never even thought to kick him out!
The nurse staff was wonderful!
I actually could have gone home after 3 days but I chose to stay the extra 4th day just bec in the hospital I was a mother of 1 and when I went home I would be a mother of three! I def didnt regret that decision! It was great to have teh extra day of recovery and monitoring my DD's weight!
I def recommend that hospital! It was a great experience!

Re: If you delivered at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset what can you tell me about it ? Also has anyone used dr. Victor Klein?
I delivered my son there and it was an amazing experience. Everyone was really amazing. I was in the regular ward and the high risk ward and everyone and everything was great. Wouldn't want to deliver anywhere else.
Dr Klein is my dr and I absolutely love him. He is goofy but makes you feel comfortable and will help you with any worries you have. On his desk is a quote that sums up his quirkiness " how may I cervix you ?" obviously instead of how may I service you. He is awesome and took me in at 35 weeks which most dr won't. I had a lot of issues with my original dr and someone told me about him and I was so grateful he took me in because I gave birth at 36 weeks. I am grateful for him. I also brought my whole family over to his practice.
Good luck with everything. Hope this helps.

I delivered at North Shore in 2010 while they were undergoing renovations. I hear that the facilities (post renovation) are phenomenal. I had a positive experience at the hospital. My delivery nurse was amazing. I did not care much for the nurses on staff in the maternity ward, however, i had a simple delivery and no post-partum complications. It appeared that the "better" nurses were assigned to patients who had c-sections and other complications.
As for Dr. Klein.... He is GREAT! He did not deliver my daughter but he did make sure to check in on me while at the hospital. I had seen him serval times during my pregnancy and found him to be caring, honest, and very knowlegable. He delivered my friend's children and she was very happy with him. Dr. Cho (who is in his practice) delivered DD and she was great. I have to say that I was very happy with all doctors in the practice but, when it comes to high rtisk, Dr. Klein is on of the top doctors in the area.
Congrats on your BFP!

i gave birth there aug 2009 and it was ok but now my cousin deilvered sept 2011 and WOW it felt like a hotel - i am looking forward to stay there in May :)
as far as dr. klein - well he is the best - he has a strange sense of humor but i love him & we click! he delivered my DD, my sisters son, and my cousins twins (she was hi risk with twins) i am currently hi risk as well, and i believe he does everything to help me stay calm, monitor me every2 weeks, send me to the hospital etc. etc. i send all my friends there :) he is great and the otehr doctors in the practice are great as well.
