If push came to shove, I would vaccinate. I am not a fan of it for my pre pubescent children, but I think they are most likely safe. I would prefer more trials on children their age though.
Same. Although I am vaccinated and trust it for myself, not for them just yet.
Though I do think the chances of their education/social skills suffering from me trying to work and homeschool are far greater than the vaccine risks.
Totally agree, I am in the same boat. some people who dont have kids should not be giving their 2 cents in.
I put two cents in about the legal history and the trials. I never once said what someone should do. I am not comfortable with mandates for children with this vaccine because it seems there are more effects for children. I think there needs to be more testing for the younger age bracket.
I consider it a PUBLIC health issue, and last I checked I am a member of the public and childfree people also pay taxes. But since you feel a non-parent shouldn’t put their 2 cents in, then I will also *refrain* from writing congresspeople my opinion.

That's great but this was not aiming ALL at you. There are many non-parents IRL who think they can tell others what parents SHOULD do with their children regarding many things in life. Not just with the covid vaccine.

I don’t recall quoting you in this conversation.
She made a comment about this topic and I replied, as a non-parent.
Stop trying to bring in other things to argue about. Very predictable.

That's all well and good but as a parent, my daughter is my main concern. I'm still not willing to give her this vaccine, and all the "experts " and their talking points mean nothing to me.
I have no comment on what is right or wrong, and I understand your position. Just simply stated what has happened in the past. In one of the articles it mentions that trials for children are not done and won’t be done by the end of 2021 at the earliest. It sounds like it won’t be granted full approval until at least 2022. I think you’ll be fine this school year.
That's what I'm banking on. But my concern is DD is turning 12 in June... which means I she will be eligible. I hope they don't start forcing it on the kids who are 12 and up. It's just a bad situation all around sadly
The FDA approval is only for 16 and up so fingers crossed

Oh yeah, thank God. Let's hope that means something for mandates. Though businesses were mandating employees get it before it was fully FDA approved so who knows anymore

I thought you’ve said you have college aged kids, that you were glad you were done with the whole public school process, so they’d at youngest be 17. Unless I’m mixing you up with someone else.
Don’t they need a vaccine to attend their colleges? How does work if you’re 17 and need consent but a college is requiring it?

I added to my post. My question is if a kid is 17 and about to be attending college that requires a vaccine but they need parent consent, how does that work?
And for what it’s worth I feel for people who have minor kids and are unsure of what to do. I know it’s not easy.

If a person is 17 and their college is mandating it to attend, do they still need a parent to consent to it? I’ll have to look it up.
I’m not sure why you’re getting all worked up here. New territory for everyone, it’s a crazy situation.

I’m not sure what happens at this age. I was 17 when I graduated high school and basically made all my decisions for myself at that age. I couldn’t attend university if I didn’t have my second MMR. I don’t recall them signing anything, but that was many years ago, so who knows?

I feel for all parents, no matter if they have small children or adult children. Not everyone, no matter their age is comfortable with it and many are forced. Yes, I say forced as many adults don't want to have to go and find a new job. Especially if they are established there. They are considered "adults" at 18 which is crazy lol

You don't sign anything to give consent. It's verbal. I am assuming if you went to your pediatrician for the MMR they would assume that they had your parents consent.

Though I do think the chances of their education/social skills suffering from me trying to work and homeschool are far greater than the vaccine risks.
Totally agree, I am in the same boat. some people who dont have kids should not be giving their 2 cents in.
It is hard enough for us parents to make this decision and then to hear from ones who will never have to trying to tell us what to do.
Aren’t your children college-aged and able to decide themselves? At a certain age it’s not the parents decision anymore.
I have minor children that still need my consent.
I thought you’ve said you have college aged kids, that you were glad you were done with the school process, so they’d at youngest be 17. Unless I’m mixing you up with someone else.
Don’t they need a vaccine to attend their colleges?
Wow
I added to my post. My question is if a kid is 17 and about to be attending college that requires a vaccine but they need parent consent, how does that work?
And for what it’s worth I feel for people who have minor kids and are unsure of what to do. I know it’s not easy.
I’m not sure what happens at this age. I was 17 when I graduated high school and basically made all my decisions for myself at that age. I couldn’t attend university if I didn’t have my second MMR. I don’t recall them signing anything, but that was many years ago, so who knows?
At 17 a parent or guardian has to still do everything with them, just like if they were 10.

If push came to shove, I would vaccinate. I am not a fan of it for my pre pubescent children, but I think they are most likely safe. I would prefer more trials on children their age though.
Same. Although I am vaccinated and trust it for myself, not for them just yet.

You don't sign anything to give consent. It's verbal. I am assuming if you went to your pediatrician for the MMR they would assume that they had your parents consent.
At 17, you still have to sign paperwork. They are not even allowed to make decisions in a doctors office at that age.

How does WHAT work?
If a person is 17 and their college is mandating it to attend, do they still need a parent to consent to it? I’ll have to look it up.
I’m not sure why you’re getting all worked up here. New territory for everyone, it’s a crazy situation.
Well if the parent has to be with them to get it, I would assume so.
Sorry if you took offense.
I do feel for parents. I’m undecided how I feel about the under 12 age group at this moment for vaccines.
I feel for all parents, no matter if they have small children or adult children. Not everyone, no matter their age is comfortable with it and many are forced. Yes, I say forced as many adults don't want to have to go and find a new job. Especially if they are established there. They are considered "adults" at 18 which is crazy lol
I remember going to the doctor when I was in college. I needed a shot for something. I can't recall what. I asked the nurse if she could get my mom from the waiting room so she could hold my hand while I got the shot. The nurse came back and told me my mom said to grow up!

You still need consent. Under the age of 18 is considered a minor, entering college as a minor doesn’t automatically make you an adult.

I’m not sure what happened. I had a regular MD at age 10 or so. I could ask my mom what she did and I know she was there. I do know that I did the paperwork at 17 for all things and I think I just needed a signature and she gave it. Maybe my mom was different and just signed off on all things at that age. Seventeen is a gray area with many things.
How do I get ahold of my vax records because in Germany they use the yellow WHO vaccine passports? I have one because I got a ton of vaccines to travel.

Your pediatrician should have all those records. I always made a ton of copies for my kids as they needed them at daycare and school and camp.
