If you get dehydrated and have horrible cramping pain..

How long does it take to rehydrate? I feel horrible all day. I am 22 weeks.

If you get dehydrated enough they will want you to go on an IV to get fluids. This happened to a friend of mine and she had to spend a day and half in the hospital. Have you seen or spoken to your Dr?

That happens to me on a daily basis. If I leave the house in the heat I get tight abdominal cramps that I have to sit and rush home to rehydrate in the ac for it to go away. I rarely leave the house now other than dr appt.

If I were you though i would call my dr to be safe if you are having cramping.

I sent dh to the store to get gatorade at 1am since I was suffering from about yesterday AM. I actually feel 1000xs better this AM. Does that mean it was definitely dehydration? My drs appt is this wed so I can find out anyway. I didnt call the dr last nite bc I didnt want to sit in a hospital all nite.

I dehydrated and it took that whole day to rehydrate and the cramping to go away.

It'll probably take about a day or so to get properly hydrated again. I doubt your at the point where you would need an IV for rehydration. At one point I was so sick I hadn't eaten or drank anything for 3 days and I still didn't need an IV. But if you don't feel better after a day of lots of liquids def. call the doctor.

Just curious...if I felt that way and went to get an IV would I have had immediate relief?

My doc told me awhile back to go to the hospital to get rehydrated after I had a food poisoning bout at 8 weeks. The second option was Gatorade, which I tried first and which worked.

I would definitely try to hydrate like crazy today. But I would call the doctor.

The doc explained to me that the when someone is dehydrated, they get cramps in their muscles, like charlie horses. The uterus is a muscle. So it you're dehydrated, it will contract. I don't know at what point they consider it preterm labor, but it can affect the length of the cervix.

As someone who has preterm labor with shortened cervix and who is on and off bed rest and medicine for it, I would def go checked out if the cramping is that bad. Even if you just go see your doc tomorrow or something - but def call him and ask what he recommends.

I didn't get the importance of hydrating until it was explained to me like this.
