If you got a convertible crib please come in - RANT - now w/ Update!

Did you buy the convertible rails at the time you purchased the crib?

I didn't and have been meaning to for a few months now.

I just called today - and the crib is discontinued. Behr's called the company and they said they don't have any more rails.

I am flipping out. One of the main reasons I bought this crib was because I loved how it looked as a bed. They are telling me that I can buy regular metal rails and just not use the footboard - that is unacceptable!!!! I did not spend over 3K on a set for them to tell me I don't have to use the footboard.

I have a call into the company and plan on stalking them until I get the rails.

Is there anything else I can do? Am I wrong that I didn't buy the rails at the time? This was only in 2007 --- and the set JUST came out that month.

It is also still featured on the company's website.

Update: I spoke to the company and have two options. The first is metal rails that would hold the footboard and the headboard. This was actually not an option for me - I don't like the look of metal rails.

I then asked them if their rails fit all of their cribs and they do - so I will be getting rails in a slightly darker finish. I can live with this.

Thanks for listening to me complain today - off to Behr's as soon as DH comes home to order them and get this on lockdown!

OMG!!! DH has been telling me to get the rails now so that we don't have this problem.
That stinks...they have to have some somewhere!! Keep on them!!

This exact thing happened to me at Behrs too. Actually, my crib was probably KNOWN to be discontinued when I purchased it. Not only did they not tell me it was discontinued they also sold it to me at full price. GL finding rails I am on the hunt for some too!

what do you want to convert it to? a toddler/twin/full?

we bought the conversion kit for ours that only included rails for converting it to a full. my parents at us and said for the price we paid for it we were stupid. they could have bought 2 pieces of wood and put it together for us.

from a crib to a toddler we bought this crib rail which i love because you can stain it to match the color of the crib.

That happened with Luka's crib. I didn't buy the rails and the company went out of business. It was actually less than a year because when I found out I was PG with DD I was going to get the same brand. It stinks that we have to use metal rails but as long as I can use the back as the headboard I am ok with that.
Now, DD's crib came with the conversion kits for the full bed and the toddler bed.

When we bought ours they advised we buy the rails then in case is was discontinued.

I hope the manufacturer can get them for you.

We bought the rails when we purchased the crib for that exact reason. The same thing happened to my friend. she wound up finding some obscure furniture place in Connecticut that had them. I will try and get the name of the place for you.

These are the rails that turn the bed from a daybed/toddler bed to a full size. The side rails.

We just purchased our crib this past weekend from a store in MA. Our salesman told us that bed rails are universal. Does the company make any other cribs in the same finish as yours? Maybe those will work...

That su cks. I bought the whole thing at the same time. I used to be in the furniture business and I know things get discontinued often.

Does Behr's have the floor sample? Maybe they can give that one to you.

We bought the rails but not the mirror...your post reminds me that we need to do that sooner rather than later.

Call the manufacturer directly and see what they can do...I am sure they can get some kind of resolution.

OMG.. I bought my convertible crib back in 2006 and I never bought my rails. I just know they're not going to have it anymore. I've been procrastinating calling BRU.
I will probably call them tonight because of this post.

I have a Munire crib. Which brand do you have? If its a Munire, I was told by them they do NOT have a universal conversion kit. Which really, does not make sense to me But they said that the rails are not universal and since my crib is discontinued, my only option is the metal rails and no foot board. I am not happy with that answer and am still looking for a kit.

We have a convertible crib by Pali. We bought the rails. Abby will never be in her crib as a bed as long as we live where we live now which will be at least another year or two - possibly more. So we knew we needed to buy the conversion kit at the same time to avoid a problem. I hope you are able to get what you need!

Wow what company is that? We got them from Behr's they pretty much insisted we get them b.c they said the companies are often discontinue the cribs and then you will never be able to get them so we ordered them when we ordered our crib - of course they didn't come in until August but we have them. We have a pali set.

I would call the company - but maybe try calling all the baby furniture places that carry the brand - like sukons etc and see maybe one of them has one in their warehouse when someone cancelled their order.

I didnt buy them either and I was told to buy them b/c sets become discountinued all the time. Now I think I should. Hope I dont have the same issue

our crib came with the conversion rails already included....

these stupid baby furniture styles change so quickly. I found a crib I loved, and within 2 months, I noticed the manufacturer coming out with a new and rather similar style... lo an behold, my favorite set was due to be discontinued

so we bought the set when I was only 17 weeks pregnant, just to make sure we could get it

Did you get the rail for when you turn the crib into a toddler/daybed? When you make it into a full size bed, dont you just use the front of the crib as the foot board? Now I'm confused
