i had on scheduled and one non scheduled (low fluid so i was sent into the hospital for an induction). i was not called for any pre screening or testing. the only thing i was told to do was eat because i wouldn't be able to eat for a while .

they definitely took my blood while I was in labor - and even after I gave birth. I remember them coming in really early in the morning afterwards and being annoyed.. Then they took it again before I went home because they told me I was really low on iron and had to give me iron pills before I left.

Yes, they definitely take it after birth to check your levels because you do lose a lot of blood and fluids during labor and some people become anemic.

Re: If you had a scheduled induction to give birth...
So I had another "induction" two weeks ago... I say "induction" and not induction because by the time they got me started on pitocin, I was 7 cm and pushed him out 10 minutes later.
But anyway, they DID take blood this time! And it took a bit of time for them to okay me for an epidural... as a result it didn't kick in until after he was born!
