I'm thinking I'll have enough formula to last forever....would you go until 14 months or so - or just make the switch to milk soon after a year?

We've talked about this already Chat Icon but I kept C on formula until she was like 13.5 months I think, b/c I had it and her doctor agreed it wasn't harmful and was still beneficial. Did you ask your ped (I know you said you were going the other day)?

I would...like the BM, as long as I have it I would keep using it. It certainly can't hurt since there is so much more in the formula that is beneficial for them.

I didn't go bc Tyler was supposed to get shots and he has the sniffles! Also, I don't want to ask him this now being that Tyler is only 6 months and he will think I'm nuts! You girls already know I'm nuts Chat Icon

I didn't start the transition to whole milk until DD was 1, so she still got formula after she was 1.

Once she was off bottles I did away with formula (we only put formula in bottles and milk in a sippy).

Yes, yes I do Chat Icon

I think you should keep him on it until 13-14 months if you have it....it definitely isn't harmful!

After I stopped nursing I gave him step 2 formula. I just recently started switching to milk this month. I still have 2 cans left. They're good to have if you're traveling and don't want to lug milk, specially in the summer.

I think I would... its expensive and I would hate for it to go to waste.

I have some left over but it doesn't expire until next February so we can use for DD coming in June!

Re: If you had a ton of extra formula, would you keep your DC on it past a year?

I just discussed this with DD#2's gastro doc. I have so much alimentum left and she had such horrible tummy issues we are going to wait a little longer to introduce her to dairy (we were going to start next month at 11 months). I am more worried about her getting dairy too early and having milk allergies. She will be staying on her formula until 13 months for now until her next visit

I would return it or give it away. For me, life was so much easier when we could transition to milk.
