if you have a boy - walking related
how old was your DS when he took his first steps?
Mine turned 1 yo and nothing yet. Is it true that boys are late walkers?
Thanks.

Re: if you have a boy - walking related
13.5 months. I know kids (boys and girls) who started walked even later than that, 15 and 16 months.

Re: if you have a boy - walking related
My DS was a very late walker. He was 17 months when he really started walking on his own. I had even called early intervention to come evaluate him and then he started walking the day before they came. Now he never sits still.

I only have girls but they walked at 16 months and 12 months. Up to 18 months is considered normal.

12 months, 1 week.
He literally never attempted any unassisted steps until that day. Then there was no stopping him.
My nieces didn't walk until 13-14 months.

Re: if you have a boy - walking related
I don't think it's a boy vs girl thing. My nephew walked at 9 months. I know girls who didn't walk until almost 18 months. I think that is a wive's tale to be honest

if you have a boy - walking related
My first DS walked at 17 months and his twin sister at 16 months. They were 2 month's early and i chalked it up to that. But then my 2nd DS didnt walk until 16 months. Had zero interest until then. Once he took hisnfirst steps he never walked again....He runs EVERYWHERE!

if you have a boy - walking related
My DD didn't start fully walking until 16.5 months but she had taken steps around 12 months.
My DS started fully walking at 11 months. He was an early roller, crawler and walker. The only thing he wasn't early with was sleeping through the night!

My older son didn't walk until almost 17 months. He didn't even crawl until a year old! He's totally fine now at 3. My younger son walked at 13 months.

My son was fully walking at 10 months. He was always very big and very strong. I think each kid just has their own timeframe.

if you have a boy - walking related
We had a boy in Mommy & Class that was running around like a pro at 9 months.
DD took her first step at exactly 18 months and never fell once. The first step she started running all over. She never ever crawled though. Nothing until she walked. I think she was just waiting to show us until she could do it perfectly.
18 months is when they start looking to do evals if walking is the only issue.
