If you have a DSLR , do you have a ...
point and shoot also for convenience? Or do you drag around the DSLR for everything?

I have a Canon Digital elph power shot point and shoot - it is tiny and I leave it in my purse at all times! I also have a Nikon D40 and only use it for special occasions. It is just too big to carry around every day!

We have a point and shoot, but I use the DSLR almost all the time. I have a camera backpack that I carry the body and all my lenses in.

I have the Nikon D50, and yes, I still have 2 older point and shoots I can carry in my bag if I want. Trouble is, I get so frustrated with them because they are nothing like my SLR!

Re: If you have a DSLR , do you have a ...
I've never owned a point and shoot. Although there are times that I wish I had a camera to capture something and couldn't, I usually know ahead of time when there will be photo ops and bring it all.
I don't like being in a position where I have a camera but wish I had my zoom lens, or a lens cover, or a tripod or whatever. So when I bring it, I bring it all.

I only have my DSLR. I see no reason to take a photo with a lesser quality camera.

Re: If you have a DSLR , do you have a ...
Interesting answers. I dropped my BILs camera a few weeks ago and we thought I broke a $400 lense. It turns out that I only broke a protective cover that was $13.00. I hope to buy DH an SLR soon. After that scare, I was thinking I would sometimes only carry my point and shoot but we'll see. BTW, I am not usually clumsy. I did not know the camera was there and I moved something near it and it fell.

That could have been pretty bad! I broke my Dad's zoom lens when I was 16 in much the same way. Ever since then, I am like a baby with my camera.
That filter - UV filter probably - is a godsend! We have them on our lenses too. We're selective on who handles our camera and if we put it down, it's always in the carrying case.

I just got the Nikon D40 but still bring around my point and shoot.
For example, at the last two weddings I brought them. What ends up happening is that I give people the point and shoot to take pics of me and my DH! I'm too chicken to give them the good one.
I keep the P and S in my bag alot on the weekends too.

Ditto. I even carry around my point and shoot but it's pointless for me to have. I think my kids use that one more lol

I have a point and shoot as well. I prefer that when it's crowded but I also hand it over to DH to take shots while I use my DSLR.

We also have a point and shoot, sometimes I don't want to carry around the bigger camera.

Re: If you have a DSLR , do you have a ...
I didn't buy my DSLR yet, but I still use a 35MM SLR> For Xmas FH bought me a point and shoot digital, which I actually do use for going out to dinner, etc. Different times when convenience is better. If we're going to end up at a club, I will worry too much about my camera bag

I own a point and shoot but the pics are such crap that I never bring it. I carried it once and missed getting really good pics of my DD her first time on a pony. Now I just lug my D50 everywhere.
