Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
Mostly Channel 13 shows.
We watch Sesame Street, Cat in the Hat, Super Why (HUGE hit w/ my 2 year old), Barney.
Also Nick Jr.
Fresh Beat Band (more for the 2 year old), Blues Clues, Olivia, Miss Spider's Sunny Patch.
We don't watch all of them all day, but they're my go-to's. And I'll DVR them sometimes for when I'm desperate.

DS was always a huge Yo Gabba Gabba fan. He also watched Olivia and the Backyardigans. Now at almost 2 & a half, he still watches those shows but loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Team Umizoomi and Bubble Guppies

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
only sesame street. i have 2 programs DVRed and i let DD watch once in a while for about a half hour. I am guilty of letting her watch a DVD in the car as well. she is obsessed with elmo and will repeat his name over and over again to watch. i have to tell her elmo is sleeping or else she wont stop.

DS is 2. He is currently obsessed with Blue's Clues and Thomas & Friends. He still like Yo Gabba Gabba but is now scared of Fresh Beat Band lol. He will watch everything on Nick Jr if I let him but I try to limit his TV to no more than 1hr a day.

Fresh beat band ALL DAY LONG
She doesn't literally sit there all day watching but she makes me put it on continuously so she can dance to the music then she goes on about her business playing.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
DS loved the Wigges at age 1-1.5. At age 2, DS liked Dinosaur Train, Dora and Diego. Now he loves Caillou. I actually like Caillou too.
He watches about 30 minutes to 1 hour of tv per day now that he started preschool.
When he was home, I'd say he watched about 1-2 hours a day.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
We have an HBO Family special that we DVRed called Classical Baby and it's a half hour animated thing of a baby conducting all different classical songs with different animations. The only other show he ever watches is Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. We only turn it on if he asks for it and we don't allow more than 1 episode of Mickey and one "viewing" of Classical Baby each day.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
I have channel 123 (nick jr) on all day. I need the background noise. DS looks up only when Moose A Moose comes on or the Fresh Beat Band commercial. He learned to make the M sounds along with Moose and Moose also taught him to say cat.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
We recently started letting the boys watch more tv.
Favorite show = Barney. They are obsessed with it.
The also like Thomas and Bob the Builder. At bedtime, I put on Sprout. They have a bunch of mini shows right around bedtime.
They watch about 1 hour a day.
I have music channels on (like the Sirius channels) sometimes throughout the day. The like the Kids Only channel and Toddler Tunes. I also DVR Classical Baby on HBO.

My boys are 2 & 14 months. We have Nick Jr on all day long. The boys are in & out if the room & it serves more as background noise. Both boys love Mickey Mouse, Little Einsteins, Handy Nanny, Imagination Movers & they love the music from Jake & the Neverland Pirates.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
We only let DS watch what is offered on Nick Jr. on Demand and he prefers Little Bear or Frranklin shows. Truthfully, we haven't let him watch anything else. Yo Gabba Gabba is way too stimulating IMO, so I limit that. We also let him watch Sesame Street from time to time, but it doesn't hold his interest level like Little Bear does. We limit him to 2 episodes and that's it. (They're 25 min log)
DS also LOVES Cars, Finding Nemo, and Toy Story, so sometimes we let him watch a 1/2 hr of one of those movies instead of Little Bear.

DS loves Fresh Beat Band, Blues Clues and Olivia.
He watches when he first gets up, when he gets a little tired before naptime (if he's not at school), and before bed.

We have either Disney Jr or Nick Jr on. It is more for background noise and DD will stop and look or dance and then go about what she was doing. She likes Olivia, Backyardigans, Mickey Mouse Club and Agent Oso.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
DD won't watch anything other than her Elmo DVDs over and over and over and over again.
She won't watch anything on Nick Jr, Disney etc. It does NOT hold her interest at all.
With Elmo she doesn't really sit and watch it- more like she wants it on in the background as she plays, walks around etc. Sometimes something will catch her interest on it and she will stand there or sit down and watch it for like 5 minutes- but then she's off and running again.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
DD is 17 months. She loves Yo Gabba Gabba, Fresh Beat Band, Wow Wow Wubzy, Jacks Big Music Show (which is hardly ever on)... She watches 15-30 min in the morning before we go to work, then probably about 45 min at night, but at night she is playing. The weekends we try to limit it to an hour a day, so 15 min here and there. DVR is the best invention ever.

Re: If you let your 1-2 year old watch TV...
We try to keep it off, but if she's super fussy at night and won't go down we'll watch Sprout together for maybe 30 min. Usually she falls asleep in the crook of my arm within 15 of turning it on.
