Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
Who knows what the future holds, but as of now we love our house and see it as a forever house. It's in a town and neighborhood that, when we lived in an apt., we wished we could live. We lucked out and found a house in our price range on the very street we loved the most.
The house is plenty big enough for us, but in the future if we decide we want more space, we have .75 acres, so there is plenty of room for an addition

we can live in it forever - its big enough, lots of land, we love the town and SD.
but its not my favorite style house, so we may look to move in 5-10 years.

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
Our home is on a large size property so we have plenty of room to expand back as welll as up. I really love my house and we've done so much to make it our own, I don't think I'd want to move.
However, if the neighborhood was getting bad and things were changing, then I'd have to move too.

I love my house and can see us living in it for a long time, now if we were to win lotto would I stay there? That is another ??.
All kidding aside though, our home is defiantly a place we can raise a family and grow old together in

We just bought a house and while it is great for us now and has a lot of room if we have kids I don't think I want this to be the last place I end up!

We've been in our house for 7 years, and are still doing work on it. We definitely plan on upgrading. Same town or general area, but we need to find a house a tad bigger (we have 1880 sq ft now) and with a different layout (hate the hi-ranch layout we have now). The good thing is that we will make money on our house because we bougth so low and the market is priced much higher now.

we love our house & neighborhood, but we have an average sized piece of property. Its my dream to have a hobby farm & if the opportunity ever came up we'd buy acerage on the north fork. Other than that, this is our forever house.

Def not live it forever. We need a bigger house. We hopefully will start looking within the next year or so.

We bought our house, planning on eventually moving. We like the neighborhood, location and school district, so we are going to expand the house instead. That doesn't mean we won't move eventually, just not now.

My DH and I own a home that we currently do not reside in...however, when we do purchase a home to live in, we will (hopefully) be buying the home that we live in for many many years, not a starter.

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
we could live in it forever, it was brand new when we bought it lots of room, nice piece of land on a dead end, so its quiet. Good SD and neighborhood...but we were rushed when it came to buying a house so I think we might look to build something new probably 5-10 years down the road.

We plan to move one day, 5-10 yrs from now. Not sure if we actually will though after putting so much work into our house to make it ours. But if the neighborhood changed then definitely.

If we have more than 2 kids we'll definitely move. Even if we don't it's a possibility, but we could stay here if we wanted to.
If we continue to do well financially, I'd like to move somewhere else like Garden City.

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
We bought our home knowing that it had the potential to be our "forever" home based on location (neighborhood, SD, general area) and property size.
BUT there's always the possibility we may move.

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
There's always the possibility that we may move but if we stay on LI then this is most likely our forever house. It has the potential to be. If we have children it's big enough and is in a nice area with a great SD. We're more minimalists so we really have no desire for a larger house than what we have. At least right now I say that.

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
its about 50/50 for us. I love our home and our neighborhood BUT the home is small. I actually like having a small home (less to clean, and it prevents us from buying lots of garbage to fill it up) BUT down the line it may be tight with two kids.... so we will make a decision in the future

Re: If you own a home...will you live in it forever or buy something else down the road??
Even though it's our first home we bought it with the intention of it maybe being our forever home. We love the way everything has been turning out and we still have lots more to redo over at least the next 5 years, so I can see growing old in this house with my DH. But you also never know what the future might hold for you, but for now, this is our forever home.

I say we will stay forever, but DH thinks we will move in five years if his salary increases like he thinks it will. I am perfectly fine where we are, I would just upgrade everything, vacation a lot and bank a ton.

I wish we could move, but even with the housing market slump, most houses here are still out of our range.
Still I am grateful to have a home on Long Island and it is a home that we can grow in.

We bought our house with the intention of staying in it forever. We wanted a nice neighborhood and a nice piece of land so our house could grow along with us.
Like others said, if we win the lottery or get an unexpected windfall, we may move but, for now we're planning on staying put!
