If you primarily wear contacts, how often do you get new glasses?

I only wear my glasses at night for about an hour before bed so i've had the same pair for about 10 years now. The place I get my contacts always says oh you should get new glasses too (esp when my prescription changes), but I don't b/c they are expensive!

Well someone in our office had pink eye and she had to wear her glasses (which were really nice) and I thought if I ever couldn't wear my contacts and had to wear my old thick purple glasses in public, I just wouldn't leave the house!

Anyone find any good deals on new glasses lately?

I was the same way.
Had this old school, fugly, half broken pair of glasses that I never updated because I was being cheap and I never wore them outside my house!
Then I got pink eye and was mortified that I couldn't wear contacts- I actaully DID stay home from work until I was able to wear contacts again!

So I got a pair the next time I had an exam- they were pricey, but insurance covered some of it...I just used the benefit for the glasses and paid for my contacts out of pocket.

I try to update them every few years- if not the frames, at least the prescription.

I am the same way, and I only wear my glasses at home. Usually just at night before bed.

However, I do get an eye exam every year or so for my contacts and I usually end up getting a new pair of glasses too, just because I like change!

Recently, I've been ordering my contacts from Costco or Coastal Contacts (online). Coastal Contacts also has a FB, and from there, you can see when they are giving away their free eyeglass frames. I just recently ordered their free pair to have a spare pair and I only had to pay shipping and handing (depends on your RX, a real bad one might cost you a little more for the hi index lenses). You really can't go wrong, the pair I got was a Jones NY frame and really nice!

I usually get new frames every 5 years or so. I'm so happy I splurged on my last pair because I had to have emergency eye surgery last year and I had to wear my glasses for 6 months!!!!

I have flex spending and I had money at the end of the year so I treated myself.

i most wear my contact and I just got a new pair of glasses this past January. my last pair before this was 3 or 4 yrs ago. My prescription has not changed but but I wanted something new.

I had an eye infection last year (not pink eye) and I had to wear my glass for almost 3 weeks.

I wear my contacts 99.9% of the time. I got new frames about 8 years ago. They are frames that are timeless and look nice on my face. I have just had the lenses changed when my prescription changed.

I am thinking about getting new glasses as I want a different look.

i get an exam every year and ask my dr this question. he says, as long as your RX doesn't change too much there is no reason (unless they are outdated and you want something new). i haven't gotten new glasses in about 5 years now. i only wear them at home. but if i had to go out in them, i would be okay. but i'm sure in the next few years i will want to update them.

Once every 2 years because it's covered by my job, otherwise it would be much longer

Right now my glasses are just frames without the arms, so I litterally have to take my contacts out RIGHT before I sleep and put them back in the minute I wake up. I I want to see something on TV when DH is watching in bed, I have to hold them up to my face

I usually get a new pair somewhere between 2-5 years. I recently bought a pair of 39dollarglasses.com with coupon codes and thinner lenses it came out to about $50! The glasses were really high quality and the optician at my doctors office actually thought I bought them from them!

Usually every 2-3 years...My insurance will cover glasses OR contacts, and I usually need new contacts, so I use the benefit for them because they are so pricey...but every couple of years, I just "need" to have a new pair of glasses...

i had started to have eye allergy problems the last couple of years so i have to wear glasses instead of contacts much more than i would like too!
The last pair I got was actually at BJ's... I get lots of compliments on them and they were $50 Actually planning to get another pair soon now that I wear them more and my old back-up pair is broken now.

I used to get every 2 years but I was so unhappy with my last pair that I am going to go back to my old frames and just get new lenses. I will get new lenses 2-3 years if my prescription doesn't change much

I usually get a new pair every two years since I only wear my contacts all day and my glasses at night and during allergy season.

I get new glasses every 1-2 years, depending on how much my prescription has changed. I wear my contacts 4-5 days/week. I actually like my glasses and the way I look in them. I usually get them at Costco or BJs. The prices are great, and they even have an eye doc at Costco. I also keep my old pair of glasses and wear those when I'm laying around at night, so if they get damaged it doesn't really matter.

I never wear my glasses..but I do get them every two years thru insurance. I just upgraded and bought a really nice Michael Kors frame thining I would give my eyes a break....but not at all...still dont wear them!

I got a new pair - 5 years ago. My pair is still current looking, but I def need a new prescription in them. That is on the to do list.

I only wear them late at night or early in the morning.

I only bought frames from a eyeglasses lab once. It was over $400 and I'll never do it again. Now I got to bj's or Costco and bring my prescription there. They have a great selection of modern frames at decent prices.
