If you send hot lunch with your DC to daycare...
how do you keep it hot? Is there a special lunch box out there that i'm not aware of? Or do you use a thermos? I like the lunch boxes with the individual sections that each have a lid for different foods, but it doesn't seem you can keep anything warm in them, just cold with an icepack. I'd love to send DD with her usual pasta lunch in the beginning so she will eat until she gets comfy there (and less picky). Just trying to figure out how it will stay warm.

Nope no microwave... I think 6 out of the 7 places we looked said they do not microwave lunch.

Thermos Food Jar
Haven't tried it, but its on my wish list, thinking of getting it for cooler weather picnics.
There is a hello kitty version too

I am going to be in the same predicament in the fall when Elizabeth goes to a new school. They will not heat up or refrigerate anything. The director told me that a thermos works great.
I can't get Elizabeth to even try eating a sandwich, so I am going to start looking into thermoses very soon!

Re: If you send hot lunch with your DC to daycare...
Pottery Barn Kids has these Hot-Cold Food Thermoses...They also have these adorable lunch boxes to pack everything in.
Michael is starting Pre-K in a new school in September and I will be sending him with lunch. I am not looking forward to it. We should start a healthy lunch thread! Image Attachment(s):

We should start a healthy lunch thread!
I've been looking all day today, even though our daycare provides hot lunch at $4/day I think I may send her lunch at first every day then decide on a daily basis if she will have their lunch. I just posted this thread, but it quickly went to the 2nd page of posts already! GREAT lunch ideas... http://www.lifamilies.com/chat/topic-641923-1.html
