If you suffer from occasional migranes...

Do you know what your triggers are?

I have had a migrane for the last 18 hours and I am only starting to feel better now. I can't seem to think what might have triggered it, I only get 1-2 migranes a year and I am keen to find out why.

TIA!

Sometimes its stress, sometimes lack of sleep, hormones, red wine, nitrates.

DH just started getting migranes last week. We're going to the Dr. on Tuesday. I'll let you know any helpful tidbits I find out.

I get them often. Stress/tension is a huge trigger for me. As is not eating. My sister gets them from hormones and my cousin gets them from too much caffeine.

Mine are triggered by light. If I am in the sun or under fluorescent lighting for too long I get a migraine.

My DH gets migraines and one of his triggers are large flucuations in the barometric pressure. My friend has the same trigger...

Another one for both of them is cigarette/cigar smoke...

Re: If you suffer from occasional migranes...

I get them from not eating, stress and not enough caffeine.

I also know that I need to get my eyes checked/prescription updated when I start getting them.

Re: If you suffer from occasional migranes...

Triggers I am still learning about so they aren't all fine tuned:

Time of the month

Too much sleep (for certain!)

Cheese/milk/dairy

Too much white sugar

Too much white flour

For me stress, weather, if I am grinding my teeth a lot. Also if I have anything with MSG it will trigger one.

Re: If you suffer from occasional migranes...

I get mine from caffine, stress, weather changes, hormones, or sometimes fumes (like buses, when I take my students on field trips) I also heard that too much citrus could be trigger also.

Thanks for your input everyone! I think it was a double stress and teeth grinding issue.
