If you were positive for group b strep
How long did you and the baby have to stay in the hospital for?
I am reading that the baby has to be closely observed for 48 hrs after delivery. I have never stayed in for 48 hrs, because they always push you out. Just seeing if I should expect to stay in longer this time around.

Re: If you were positive for group b strep
We were discharged well before DD was 48 hours old. It was never mentioned even. The only thing that stunk was that the antibiotics really stung going in and it took a long time to get the doses in. I can't remember if it was 2 or 3 bags but the dr. didn't check me or break my water until at least 2 were in so it may have delayed things a bit.

Re: If you were positive for group b strep
Regular amt of time, nothing more. Basically in my case, all they did was administer IV antibiotics to me while baby was in utero and that was that. Not sure how other cases work.

Re: If you were positive for group b strep
I delivered Sunday at 3:49pm and was discharged Tuesday by Noon.
Maybe it has to do with whether or not you get the antibiotics into you before you deliver? I was able to get 2 rounds of meds in me before I pushed.

Re: If you were positive for group b strep
I was postive for DS #2. I got to hospital and was given antibiotics while in labor. I was only able to get one bag, since I went so fast. The antibiotics burned going in.
I gave birth Monday at 1020pm and went home Wed morning. I do remember them taking him the morning after he was born for blood work.
