If your DC did/does NOT sleep through the night by 6 months...
When did he/she start? Was it a magic "turning point", or did you do some type of sleep training, CIO, etc.?
Also, what were your DC's sleep issues? Waking for bottle, not going back to sleep after bottle, early waking, not going to sleep at bedtime, etc.
My DS was doing really well at around the 4 month mark - going to bed easily at 7:30 p.m., usually waking several times for pacifier, but not needing his bottle until 6 a.m. and going right back to sleep with pacifier throughout the night.
Now, DS will be 6 months on the 17th and he's waking after only a couple of hours sleep, not taking pacifier, becoming hysterical, wanting bottle at least once in the night and NOT going right back to sleep after it. I don't know if he's teething, gassy or just getting into BAD habits...
I NEED to hear stories of encouragement from people whose DC was not a good sleeper at around 6 months, but still eventually became one. I need to know there is hope that DS can eventually sleep through the night and that he's not doomed to be a terrible sleeper!
Please help...
Thank you very much!

Re: If your DC did/does NOT sleep through the night by 6 months...
I'm not sure if this will make you happy or not, but my daughter didn't start sleeping through the night until she was 21 months old.
I tried CIO when she was 7 months old and she kept waking -- I gave up after almost two months of listening to her cry in the middle of the night and started to give her one middle of the night feeding. She slept longer and we were both better rested.
At 21 months she skipped two nights in a row on her own, and I decided that was the end of middle of the night feedings. We had maybe one rough night after that, followed by many months of good sleep (interupted only for illness).
She now sleeps consistently for about 10 hours.
Some kids just aren't wired to sleep through the night until they are older...

Thank you! While your response may not make me "happy" in the way I had hoped, it does make me happy to know I'm not alone!
Thank you for your response!

Matthew didnt sleep the night till he was 10 months. We tried CIO and it didnt work, then we went to the No Cry Sleep Solution, and it worked at 7 months, then he was waking again, and tried CIO once again, and in 2 nights of only crying for 20 minutes it worked
