If your DC falls asleep in the swing

do you leave it swinging until they wake up? Chat Icon I'm assuming Yes b/c stopping it may wake her up, but this is the first time she's ever fallen asleep in it, so i wasn't sure (DD is 3 weeks old).

At that age, yes. Mine had a timer and turned itself off after a while.

When he got a bit older I really wanted him to be napping in the crib and I picked him up and but him in the crib. But, at 3 weeks.. he slept wherever he fell asleep. Chat Icon

Re: If your DC falls asleep in the swing

When DS was a newborn, the swing was one of the only places he would nap! I would not have survived the first few weeks without the swing. I'd leave it swinging for 1-2 hours.

Now at 5.5 months, he doesn't like the swing nearly as much. I put him in it usually when we are eating for a total of 15 minutes max.

My swing had a timer and stopped swinging after awhile. With my DS for the first few months I use to let him sleep in there. When he was around 3 months I didn't let him nap in it that much and tried to do all naps in his crib. Then for my DD right from the beginning as soon as she fell asleep in the swing I transferred her right into her pack and play or crib. I did not want to get her used to sleeping in the swing for long periods of time.

Re: If your DC falls asleep in the swing

Yup, all the time! DS always napped in his swing as a newborn. At night, I would put him in his bassinet. I wouldn't of survived without that swing.
DS is now 6 months and I have the swing packed away. He hasin't napped in his swing since 3 months old.
