If your DC has a fever, do you check their temp. during the night?

I am such a nut I must get up every hour to check DS's temp. when he has a fever. I am so afraid it is going to get so high or that the fever is a sign of something else bad. I guess part of my bad anxiety, always thinking the worst

DS began running a fever today. I gave him motrin before he went to bed. I will check his temp before I go to bed (around 1ish) and then probably one other time during the night or early morning....

I would sneak in and feel her head. Most of the time she was fine. Usually if she had a high fever she would wake up. I usually take her temp rectally, but at night I use the ear thing. I've tested it to the rectal and know its about a degree off.

DS just got a fever of almost 104 before laying down. It was down to 102.5 (after motrin) before he actually layed down. I don't plan on checking until he wakes up.

I do when DD wakes up - she never sleeps thru the night when she is sick so she gets up frequently so I just check it when I feel I need to or before she gets the next dose of medicine. I don't wake her to take it though.

When it hit over 103 a couple of weeks ago, we did. Most of the time we just go in and feel her head.
