Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I dont know if DH was allowed per say- when I had DS...
But he did stay the 1st night...
TBH- he was so uncomfortable, and the sounds of him tossing and turning just bothered me and prevented me from being able to rest....
This time- DH will have to go home and take care of my older DC- but even if that wasnt an issue- he wouldn't be spending the night..

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
DH stayed in the room with me both nights. He wouldn't of had it any other way. I was so happy to have him there with me. DS was in the NICU so we couldn't keep him in the room with us. I didn't really get any sleep because every couple of hours they come in and take your temperature and see how your feeling. DH actually slept better than me.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
DH wouldn't be able to stay with me becuase he'll have to be home with DD. If we had the option, I might let him stay with me. I always felt a little lonely when he left after DD was born.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I'm not sure if DH is allowed but I'm sure he will want to and I will want him to be there. He would never want to go home without me and even if he was forced to I'm sure he would sleep on the couch. I just love him!!

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
My husband slept there with me every day, but I had a private room. I needed him with him and was glad he was there. He was tired but again, it worked for us. I also kept Molly in my room with me the entire time, including overnights.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I had that option at the hospital where I delivered.
I told DH to go home so he could get some rest. He would have been miserable if he stayed.
The phone rang constantly, the staff kept coming in and out, it did not make for a restful time.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
My husband slept at the hospital with me. It was only for 2 nights and I really appreciated having him there. We had the baby in the room with us so it was nice to have someone to help take care of him. I was pretty exhausted after 27 hours of labor.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I really want me DH to stay with me in the hospital when I'm there but I heard good sam doesn't let DH's stay over night. Hospitals freak me out big time and I know I'm going to be a mess when I'm there and not having DH there to stay with me to keep me calm is going to be tuff:(

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
i'll let him make that decision. i know if the night of the delivery it goes into late late hours he'll just sleep there with me. but the rest of the hospital stay i wouldnt force him to stay overnight with me.

Yes! At Stonybrook the rooms are private and have a sleeper chair that folds out flat so it's comfy for him to stay over, as well as a bathroom, shower and flat screen in the room. I really don't want to be in the hospital by myself for some reason. Plus I want the baby to stay with us so it will be very helpful to have him there. I know most BTDT moms will say not to keep the baby in the room w/ you and to rest but I guess we all have to figure it out on our own.
That's the same thing that NUMC has and I will have a private room. I like the idea of maybe staying over the first night if the baby is born late.
I have this irrational fear of the nurses just giving DC formula and not waking me for feedings. I know it's silly. But, That's one of the reasons I want the baby to sleep with me. If it goes really bad the first night, I might send DH home. Thanks for your advice and stories. I appreciate them!

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
YES!!! Speaking from my experience with DS, I was BFing and the first night I sent him back to the nursery they brought him back to me 2hrs later hysterical and inconsolable he wouldn’t even BF because he was so worked up. After that I refused to send him to the nursery so my DH stayed with me the remaining nights so he could be there to help me with him. I has a C-sect. so I really needed the extra help and rest.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
We had a private room & DH was able to sleep in, but we chose to have him go home so he could be well-rested & I could get some sleep as well. He also did things like send email/pics out to relatives/friends, straightened up the house & ran things home from the hospital.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
IMO DH should sleep at home and get the house all ready for when you come home with the baby. He should take care of all of the things you usually do but won't be able to. Sure it's nice to have him there, but with the baby waking up for feedings and the nurses coming in every few hours your better off getting those hours inbetween of rest alone.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I really liked that aspect of NUMC. If I have to go to Huntington, I hope i get that option. Both DH and I are small, so we may both fit in the bed (I heard you were allowed to do that at NUMC).
I think that is something you can play be ear. Your DH can be ready to sleep over, but be ready to go home if that is what you both feel is best.

My DH is spending the night with me at the hospital. I don't want to be alone and I just like his company

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I don't think that DH would stay in the hospital with me. We only live about 15 minutes from the hospital so I don't think it is a big deal for DH to go home. Besides, he should get a good night's sleep and return in the morning.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I had a private room and DH stayed with me. I had a cs and I was in a lot of pain. It was nice to have him there to help me get comfortable at night and to help me with the baby when they brought him in for feedings. This time, I'm don't think he can stay with me but that's fine. We have DS now so he can go home and put him to bed.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
Dh stayed the first night because I was being induced and we didn't know when she was coming. We both had the worst night sleep ever...he was so exhausted the next day I sent him home and slept peacefully the next two nights. So no I would opt not to have him sleep there.

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
dh had a bed in room...he slept in it.
I would have rathered he slept at home.
it would have been nice to see him looking clean and fresh from a good night sleep.
instead he slept on hospital cot.
baby could have slept in my room at night, but I did not like the idea of that...so he slept in the nursery. (I was nursing)

Re: If your husband was allowed to sleep at the hospital with you...
I won't be able to sleep if he is staring at me (which is what I know he will do). Nope, he can go home that night.
I don't think it is an option at my hospital anyway.

ITA. DH stayed with me three of the four nights I was in the hospital. I wouldn't have been able to do it without him. I had a c/s and at the start could not get out of bed. He would change the baby, give me him for feedings, etc....rather than having to call the nurses for everything. DS was in the nursery some nights and with us some nights.
