If your newborn likes(d) to be held all of the time
DS is 2 months old. He wants to be held constantly. On a good day, I can get him to nap in the swing once and/or sit in the car seat/snap n go long enough so I can eat. He hates the crib and pack n play. We constantly try to put him in the crib, but he gets hysterical and gets really worked up. The only thing that soothes him is picking him up and holding him. If we put him in there when he's asleep, he wakes up almost immediately. He sleeps in my arms at night and usually naps on me too.
I go back to work at the beginning of April and I'm starting to get worried about the transition to daycare. The center has 2 adults and 8 babies in the room. Obviously, he isn't going to be held there all of the time like he is at home. I don't know how he's going to nap in the crib or deal with not being held constantly.
If your child is/was similar to mine, when did he or she outgrow the needing to be held constantly phase? How was the transition to daycare? Do you have any advice on how to prepare for the daycare environment?

I know how tough that can be DS was like that for a long time
DS was not in daycare so maybe if he was he would have adjusted quicker but it wasn't until he was sitting up on his own (around 5 mos) that it completely changed - I would say though around four months it got MUCH better - once he could hold his own in the exersaucer and once he could sit up and play with his toys things changes alot - b/f that i would get maybe 15 min per day out of the bouncy or the swing and that would be it. HTH a little!

DS is the same way, and he is almost 5 months. It was really bad to the point that I felt I could not put him in daycare, thank goodness my Inlaws are able to take care of him. let me tell you, he runs them into the ground every day

Re: If your newborn likes(d) to be held all of the time
MY son needed to be held 24/7 for six months, so I held him 24/7 for six months. I was at home with him for a bit over a year, but it was a really special time for us, so I enjoyed holding him! Once I made a cake while holding him! You have a few months until you go back to work, maybe when he is older and he can maybe sit up, or move around a bit he will be more independant. I would just wait it out, he won't want to be held forever, but while he is so tiny, enjoy it!
