Re: If your OOT in-laws visit, do they stay at your home?
Well, my IL's don't live OOS but if they did (or when OOS family does visit) I am just not big on having people stay in my house. It's too stressful, especially now that we have a toddler, and it just cramps my routine with my DD and my privacy. I may be in the minority but it's really just not my thing. I love entertaining and having people over but I like them to go home when all is said and done.
Edit - I also don't expect (or even like) to stay with anyone when we're traveling OOS. Again, I prefer my own space and privacy. It's easier on me then trying to deal with my DD in someone else's home, family or otherwise. KWIM?

Re: If your OOT in-laws visit, do they stay at your home?
we invite anyone coming to visit us to stay with us. we have a 3 br apt in brooklyn, but we are 3 adults and one baby. if they are willing to sleep in the living room on a aero bed, they are more than welcomed. I personally don't want people wasting money on a hotel when they can stay with us with only minor inconvenience. the air bed is pretty comfortable too, and I make a mean frehch toast.
but I am a weirdo and we have people sleeping at our house all the time. in fact, this weekend when we go upstate will be the first ALONE time I'll have with my husband and son is well over a month. but it's family. and being host to them is very important to me.
ETA: my house upstate is 2 large bedrooms plus a den with a pull out. we've had over 15 people sleeping in it at one time. it's like a great big sleepover and I think it's awesome. I think if you know what you're getting into, there is no reason not to go with the flow and enjoy it!
