I am having baby #2 in about7 1/2 hours!!! DD turned 4 in July.

As far as the furniture, We used all of it for her, and just got a bed that matched.

We stored the crib and all baby gear in our basement and my parents basement also.

I am re-using all of the big items, and had a "sprinkle" so I got a ton of new stuff also.

I kept almost everything. I don't think anyone would throw me a sprinkle. I will buy a new stroller because my son's is really gross now. He will be 3 1/2 and no baby on the way yet!

I also had a convertible crib. We converted it to a full size bed. I want to get gender specific furniture for the next one anyway.

we stored everything in wither their original boxes or in double sealer black garbage bags. My DC are 3 years apart and we still have stuff that we put away from her that we have not gone through since we did not plan on having twins.. and people just get you so much stuff when you have 2!

I have put all of DSs stuff in the attic. All of our stuff was in good condition and I packed it up in big black garbage bags. His car seats, strollers and diaper bag type stuff are all gender nuetral. The clothes I have been storing in bins. He has way to much so I recently sorted out the things that were gender nuetral and my favorites and packed the rest up for a friend and donations. All his furniture we bought as gender nuetral, so depending on what happens room wise, they can share it or it could go to either child. I'm also packing up the toys as we good through them and keeping the really good ones and donating the annoying and less used ones. The only thing I can think of that we'd definitely need another of is a PNP, and that's just because the cat has scratched holes in this one.
