if you're doing/have done the whole freezing meals for after the birth type thing...
...what did you/are you going to make? So far I'm thinking lasagne and Shepherd's pie...what other things are you planning?

I made tons of meatballs and lasagna, but then my mom pointed out that I could just buy tons of Stouffers and save myself the effort. So I just started stocking up on Stouffers! I actually like that lasagna better than my own! So I bought Stouffers lasagna, chicken pot pies, etc.

Re: if you're doing/have done the whole freezing meals for after the birth type thing...
it will be fall, so I'll probably make
sauce (with and without meat) french onion soup beef stew chili stuffed peppers?
plus, have meats preseasoned (but uncooked) for simple popping in the oven
roasts pork tenderloin/chops steak chicken
now the better question is how am I going to fit all this stuff in my freezer
also want to do some breakfasts (I normally make a good breakfast on the weekends and want to keep that up)
french toast waffles pancakes.
I make this stuff from scratch, so I can just make whatever amount and freeze them individually. I've done it before with leftovers and it was fine for reheating later so I'll give it a whirl.

you can make meat sauce, vodka sauce and marinara sauce and freeze them in serving sizes. DH will be the one cooking so I have to pick things he can heat up and cook! lmaooo.

DH would much rather get Italian take-out than from the freezer so i'm probably just making sheperd's pie, chicken pot pie and pot roast with gingersnap gravy (for him - I'll wait for my mom to come up and have her make NORMAL pot roast for ME). I may make some mac & cheese as well.
Anyway, being summer, I expect DH to grill most of the time.

Re: if you're doing/have done the whole freezing meals for after the birth type thing...
my MIL made us a ton (like 20) chicken cutlets before Kaydyn was born. We froze them 2 to a bag and it was great when I came home from the hospital...I could just heat up the cutlets themselves or if I had a litte more energy I made chicken parm.
She also made us lasagna, but that didn't defrost very well....also if you are making lasagna try to cut it and freeze it in sections so you don't have to defrost the whole thing.

I made lots of sauce, with and without meat. Meatballs. Also, I bought and froze Boboli shells and mozz cheese.

i dont know what im making..i need recipes people!!
Crock pot Beef Burgundy (Stew) lol 1/3 cup All purpose flour 1 tsp salt 1/4 tsp pepper 2 tbsp dried oregano 2lb. cubed beef stew meat (fresh, not frozen) 10oz pearl onions, peeled 2 cups of baby carrots, halved crosswise 2 garlic cloves, minced 1 bay leaf 10.5 oz can condensed beef consumme 1 cup water 1/2 cup red burgundy wine (optional) 8 oz small fresh mushrooms (I never use them b/c tom and I dont eat them. lmao)
(1) Combine flour, salt, pepper and oregano so its mixed well in the crock pot. (2) Add the beef and mix again, coating the beef. (3) Add all remaining ingredients, mix well. (4) Cover and cook on LOW setting for 10-12 hours.
I serve it over egg noodles. Its a very hearty meal.
Crock Pot Chicken BBQ I found this years ago and love it! I pull the chicken apart after its cooked, like pulled pork. Serve it on rolls with baked potatoes
* 6 frozen skinless, boneless chicken breast halves * 1 (12 ounce) bottle barbeque sauce * 1/2 cup Italian salad dressing * 1/4 cup brown sugar * 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1. Place chicken in a slow cooker. In a bowl, mix the barbeque sauce, Italian salad dressing, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour over the chicken. 2. Cover, and cook 3 to 4 hours on High or 6 to 8 hours on Low.

Re: if you're doing/have done the whole freezing meals for after the birth type thing...
We're lucky to be having a summer baby so we can grill every day. We have lots of burgers and steaks from a good meat distributer. Plus my mom will be making us dinner for the first two weeks. I'm not really concerned about dinners.
Red peppers were on sale today so I'm planning on making a batch of sausage and peppers to freeze for lunches but that's about it.
