If you're planning on breastfeeding...

what did you register for in terms of bottles?

If all goes well, I plan on EBFing the first 3-4 months and then I'd pump at work (not sure if I'd continue EBFing or supplement with formula). I'd like to get BPA free bottles, but I don't know which brand to get, what sizes and how many of each. TIA.

I would recommend registering for individual bottles. Like one Born Free, one Playtex etc, because you have no idea what nipple the baby will like.

We tried a bunch before we got to the Playtex Drop-in.

Re: If you're planning on breastfeeding...

We started with Playtex drop ins and he was doing well but then decided he didn't like them. Then I went to Dr. Brown but then there was the BPA news so now we use Born Free. He is 4+ months and takes 5oz but I only bought 2 5oz bottles and the rest in the bigger size (9oz) b/c they're expensive and why invest in too many smaller ones when you can just fill the 9oz to the appropriate amount - KWIM?

ITA!
Landon prefers the Avent bottles. There should be BPA free ones coming out soon.
He likes Playtex drop-ins also.

we're doing glass.... I simply don't trust plastic... today it's bpa, tomorrow it's another plastic ingredient....

we registered for 2 brands of glass:
born free and evenflo... both in 9 oz size, since I've heard that they will need the larger size fairly quickly..... I also registered for a variety of nipples....

we'll see which brand Scone prefers!

We have tried so many bottles. My DS does best on the Evenflow glass right now (another perk to these is they screw right onto the Medela pump) but we also had success with the Avent drop-ins which are PBA free. Those seemed easier for him at the beginning because the wider nipple is more like BFing.

Whatever you buy don't get too many. Bottles are a very individual thing, every baby seems to have different preferences. If you are BFing I would register for one or two of two or three different brands and see what works best for you before you invest the money.

With DS i started with 4 Avent 4 oz bottles. He used those for awhile b/c he never was a really really big eater.

I registered for the born free plastic ones. I have never used them before but figured I would give them a try this time. My other kids had no issues with any bottles I gave them other them Avent which they both hated.

Re: If you're planning on breastfeeding...

We only have two bottles for dd. So if you plan on breastfeeding you definitely do not need too many, but you may need to try a couple of different brands before you find the right fit.
