DH and I went to Hershey a few years ago. I just love the whole atmosphere there. We didn't do too much of the Amish Country but I just love that area of PA.

they had some show...almost like a broadway show but it only had a song of two for popular plays

it was great!

Samantha, might that have been The American Music Theater, on Rt. 30? Mary

Hey Mary! I am actually going to Lancaster for a business trip next Friday. I am hoping we'll have some time after our work duties to see some things around Lancaster. I was there when I was younger...all I really remember is Amish Town. I loved it.

Hi, Cari!!!!! Really? Will you be traveling with other employees? Mary

Yes, I'm familiar with Beverly Lewis, but haven't read any of her books. It is interesting to have Amish inlaws, basically my DH's Brothers/Sisters/Families, since his Parents passed away. Chat Icon Mary

Sorry about your In-Laws. Does it really work like they say, when you marry outside, they dis own you or is that a certain order? If too personal no need to answer.

Thank you, that's very kind of you!!! I wish his Mom, who died shortly after Debi's birth, could still be here. She was a very sweet gal, and I could tell she loved me, even if I wasn't Amish!!!Laurie, I really don't mind at all!!! Well, my DH was asked to leave, by his Amish minister Father, after changing his viewpoints on things, one of them was shunning; DH did not believe in it, so out he went. All this happened way before I met him!!!! Chat Icon Mary

Thanks Deb. It must be hard, but from what I read and I know it is only a book, alot seem to not like the Shunning part.

Well, my DH, knew the consequences, and seems "ok" with the way things are, but I wonder if there might be some hurt feelings, that he doesn't express. Mary

we love Lancaster. We go 1-2 times per year. We love all of the restaurants and shopping. We ALWAYS go to Millers and Shady Maple, and we have to go for breakfast and dinner to each !We love going on scenic drives and just driving all through out the side roads. We have stayed at many of the diff hotels and have ate pretty much everywhere. I used to go every year as a child and now me and DH still love going there.

We also love Kitchen Kettle Village, Intercouse pretzel !!
Kauffmans !!
Bird in Hand market !!
Yoders Supermarket !
Shady Maple Supermarket !!

We literally bring coolers with us and on our last day of our trip we stop at all of these markets and stock up ! Soo many good finds and everything is so much cheaper !! We also love Yoders Chocolate Milk and Turkey Hill !! We also bring back kauffmans apple cider and cheeses and picky foods from the markets !

AHH Mary!! You live in Lancaster! I'm so jealous. That is seriously my favorite vacation spot. I went every year when I was little, and now DH & I have started to go.

I'm obsessed with Good n Plenty & Miller's. I like Hershey Farm for breakfast...I've never been there for any other meal. We saw The Voices of Christmas in early December...that was AMAZING. Some of my other favorites:

National Christmas Center
Kitchen Kettle Village
Eastland Alpacas (Mount Joy)
The Wolf Sanctuary (Lititz)
Ephrata Cloisters (Ephrata)
Kitchen Kettle Village
Landis Valley Museum
Continental Inn (that's the hotel we always stay at!)
The Outhouse
The big windmill place

I love the Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market. I love Kitchen Kettle and Stoffitz Meats I think that I am spelling the name wrong, it used to be a small store, now they have like a grocery store. It's near Kitchen Kettle.

We go down at least once a year to go outlet shopping and hit up all the Amish places.

Oh I loved Lancaster as a child! We would go every year! Miller's, Good & Plenty, Steamboat Inn, all the little shops....

Mary-there was one store we used to go to that was really big and I think had an old horse and buggy wagon inside of it? Large wooden plank floor...do you know the name? We used to get horse and buggy pretzels and the candy sticks there!!

Oh and what is that indoor food market??

Ah, the memories! Chat Icon
