we went there often when we were young! lots of nice memories. I remember being fascinated with the different lifestyle of the Amish culture, throwing up shoofly pie @ miller's, stopping on the side of the road in the freeezing cold while my Dad and a friend pulled a stranger's car out of a snowbank with our SUV, the beautiful farms, fresh produce markets, the smell of the air... it's nice. I love Good N Plenty! Also enjoy the outlets and the Amish Village. And Shady Maple buffet is awesome too!

I went to college in Lancaster Chat Icon

I loved the Central Market in the city, and there was a restaurant called Isaac's (just had simple sandwiches, etc) that we absolutely loved too!

There was another place called Eat n park that had great breakfasts and sugar cookies.

As you can tell, I did a lot of eating in college, LOL!!!

eta: The outlets!!! There were a few on Rte 30 if I remember correctly. And no sales tax Chat Icon

That basically sums up my college career: Eating and Shopping!

I loved Giant supermarkets and Phar-Mor also (but I don't think Phar-Mor exists anymore - some kind of accounting scandal, lol)!

AHH Mary!! You live in Lancaster! I'm so jealous. That is seriously my favorite vacation spot. I went every year when I was little, and now DH & I have started to go.

I'm obsessed with Good n Plenty & Miller's. I like Hershey Farm for breakfast...I've never been there for any other meal. We saw The Voices of Christmas in early December...that was AMAZING. Some of my other favorites:

National Christmas Center
Kitchen Kettle Village
Eastland Alpacas (Mount Joy)
The Wolf Sanctuary (Lititz)
Ephrata Cloisters (Ephrata)
Kitchen Kettle Village
Landis Valley Museum
Continental Inn (that's the hotel we always stay at!)
The Outhouse
The big windmill place

Hi!!!! I haven't been to The National Christmas Tree Center, but I understand it's neat!!!! By windmill, do you mean The Dutch Haven Shoofly Pie place, or Windmill Restaurant at Morgantown?

http://dutchhaven.com/

In the same complex, as the Dutch Windmill, is my friend's shop, Kings Victorian House. It's a shopping delight!!!! Love this place!!!! Chat Icon Mary

I love the Bird-in-Hand Farmers Market. I love Kitchen Kettle and Stoffitz Meats I think that I am spelling the name wrong, it used to be a small store, now they have like a grocery store. It's near Kitchen Kettle.

We go down at least once a year to go outlet shopping and hit up all the Amish places.

Hi, Rebecca!!!! Yes, it's Stoltzfus, hard word to spell!!! I use to buy meat there. It's a bit far for me now. Chat Icon Mary

Oh I loved Lancaster as a child! We would go every year! Miller's, Good & Plenty, Steamboat Inn, all the little shops....

Mary-there was one store we used to go to that was really big and I think had an old horse and buggy wagon inside of it? Large wooden plank floor...do you know the name? We used to get horse and buggy pretzels and the candy sticks there!!

Oh and what is that indoor food market??

Ah, the memories! Chat Icon

Might that have been in Intercourse, at The Old Candle Barn? If not describe a bit more about what they had. Mary

You did?!!!! Which college? Tell me privately, if you don't want to say here. Isaacs is soooo good!!!! Eat and Park, was demolished, to build a bank. But it's quality had gone downhill; The Eat and Park, that was in State College, don't know if still there, but that was a good restaurant. No, Phar-mor is not around here anymore, but I shop at Giant!!!!! They just rebuilt the one between the Lititz Pike and Oregon Pike!!!!! They now have a huge organic section, and even a coffee gathering place with electric fireplace for ambiance!!! Chat Icon Mary
