If you've taken your child to a pediatric dentist that was not covered by your insurance
Would you mind sharing how much the cost was for a regular cleaning? Feel free to FM if you don't want to post it here. We recently took our boys for their first visit, knowing it wasn't covered and we'd have to pay out of pocket, but we were completely taken aback by how expensive it was. Just wondering if that is the norm. TIA!

I want to say somewhere around $60-70. We do have insurance but that only covered about $8 and the rest was out of pocket.

We've paid out of pocket and it was over $200. The one time there were x-rays involved it was over $300. Luckily, our dentist started their own "insurance", so now I pay $250 a year for 2 cleanings and one set of x-rays. Not great, but better than what I was paying.

I pay $150 which is for the clean, fluoride treatment and whatever else they do (check for cavities I guess)
ETA I do not have dental insurance so this was the total charge

Re: If you've taken your child to a pediatric dentist that was not covered by your insurance
When I called I think it was about $150-200 for a cleaning for my two year old. DD is now 2.5 and this is on my list.
What's the deal with the ACA mandating coverage for pediatric dentistry? I heard something about this and that's one of the reasons I waited until the new year to take her to the dentist.

$83, they aren't covered by my insurance by my insurance negotiates a discount rate. I didn't know any of this and I'm not pleased that I have to pay that much, taking her to a regular dentist next time.

$155 out of pocket for a ped dentist. I called and asked the cost before I took my DS in for an apptmt. We have dental ins but it's a DMO and they don't have ped dentists as part of the plan.
