I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
He has been up since 5am and screaming almost the entire time. He slept for maybe a 1/2 hour and was quiet during his bottle.
Poor Hannah is walking in circles, DH is being short with me, I don't know how to make this better. Should I call the on call ped? What the heck can he do??? We just changed to Pepcid yesterday and I think he's worse

Bed habit I know but could you put him in his car seat and take him around the block a few times until he falls asleep - if he is over tired he might sleep and at least you will get a break

does he like the swing? or to be carried in a sling? my dd was an extremely colicky baby and these helped. hang in there.

does he have gas? is he passing gas a lot? that's one way of telling if he has gas. I know my son had that last week for the entire day and he was cranky as hell. good luck

Jodi
You have to calm down. He probably senses yours and Steve's frustration, which will not help.
I would call the dr. again. Maybe he can prescribe something else. Like I said before maybe you just have a colicky baby and you might have to just wait until the magical 3 month mark. Have you tried the miracle blanket on him?
Im sorry you are going through this. If you need to talk call me.

Re: I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
My DS has acid reflux and it took a few days for it to really work so don't change just yet! It might still work for him
How long was he on the zantac?
This was my DS too!

Re: I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
I'm actually pretty calm, its DH who is losing it.
DS has silent reflux. He's on Elecare formula and Pepcid. He's getting worse every day. I don't think it's colic - he's in serious pain and it's all day - not just at night. He's actually somewhat calmer at night.
We've tried everything. We swaddle, swing, sway, drive, etc. He won't sleep for more than 20 - 30 minutes here and there. He's too busy screaming so hard vains pop out of his head.
He's now refusing the bottles too.

Re: I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
when was the last time you gave the pepcid?
did you call the ped? Maybe you should stop it and he can give you a script for something else over the phone

He was on the zantac for alittle over a week and was just getting worse, so we switched to Pepcid yesterday. He had the last dose at 9am and that really triggered a screaming fit!!!

i would def not give it again then. is the ped office open today? i am assuming no
Maybe feed DC only 2 ozs at a time. Also sit him upright! Do you think it could be gas???

Re: I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
i am just offering hugs b/c i am so sorry you are going through this....i think the one thing that got me through those horrible times was knowing that it was jsut a temporary time in DD's life. the days did seem to drag on and on but it did pass- and this tough time with DS will pass too...keep venting though when you need to. it just helps sometimes i know

Re: I'm at my wits end...what do I do?
I'm so sorry.
DD was the same way as a newborn. She had bad reflux and was always extremely uncomfortable with her milk protein allergy. She was put on Neocate.
We gave her mylicon in every bottle and once in awhile gave her gripe water. She was and still is on zantac for reflux. I also gave her mylanta sometimes in between the zantac and that really helped with the acid. She was swaddled in the miracle blanket for almost 6 months. This was a godsend
Unfortunately, time was the best medicine for her. By 3-4 months we noticed a huge difference in her.
I can totally relate to what u are going through. DH and I were the same way with each other. Constantly bickering and arguing because we just didn't know what to do for DD. We just wanted her to be comfortable and happy. Sadly, we think DD may be the only one because neither of us want to go through this again. If we do have another one it won't be for a long time. We need a rest.
Hang in there it will get easier, I promise.
